It’s about conditioning your body, understanding the journey ahead, and equipping yourself with the challenges of trekking in the world’s highest mountains. Let’s break down the essentials for getting ready for this iconic trek.

Build Your Stamina

Start with regular cardio exercises like jogging, cycling, or swimming to enhance your endurance. Add strength training focusing on legs, back, and core to your routine, as these areas are crucial for trekking.

Acquire the Right Gear

  • Hiking Boots: Choose durable, comfortable boots for the rugged terrain.
  • Layered Clothing: Pack thermal layers, waterproof and windproof jackets, and pants to adapt to changing weather conditions.
  • Sleeping Bag: Opt for a lightweight sleeping bag that can handle the cold nights at high altitudes.
  • Accessories: Essentials include a headlamp for early morning or late evening treks, high UV protection sunglasses, and sunscreen to protect against the sun’s intensity at high elevations.

Understand High-Altitude Risks

Familiarize yourself with the symptoms of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS). Learning about its signs, prevention, and treatment is critical for safely trekking at high altitudes.

Plan for Acclimatization

Incorporate acclimatization days into your trekking itinerary to allow your body to adjust to the altitude. Following the “climb high, sleep low” strategy helps minimize the risk of AMS.

  1. Me and my boyfriend have just finished the Annapurna circuit trek, which included crossing the Thronh La Pass aswell as climbing Poon Hill. Couldn’t recommend White Hill enough every detail of the trek was well organised and nothing was too much trouble! Really recommend using them, also our guide Ratna was brilliant – he gave us a really good insight into the local scenery and culture.

  2. I was in Nepal for less than a month, I was wandering among tourist agencies, seeking a valuable mate for my first experience. I was a bit afraid of mountains, I did not know what to expect, and moreover I had a dog … I wanted to “travel safely”.
I had already considered various agencies and I was wandering through the center of Thamel. “What a beautiful dog!” I heard. Thus began the relationship between me and Anuj, co-owner of the White Hill Adventure tourist agency.
After a discussion, lasting about an hour, I realized that these guys had something more than the others. Their prices were unbeatable, their hearts overflow of joy and there was a sign on the door with an inscription that immediately caught my attention: “Honesty is success.” Fair enough.
I had the pleasure of doing already 3 Trekking in comfort thanks to the services of this agency. I went on Annapurna Circuit 2 times, passing the Thorong La Pass, at 5416 meters. The first time I was alone, with Dike, Nara was our fantastic guide. The second time I went with a group of friends who came specially from Italy and our fantastic guide was the great Buz!
My sister and I had the honor to observe the highest mountain on the earth Reaching Everest Base Camp at 5200 meters. In the morning Martina had a bit of headaches and therefore she does not wanted to come to the viewpoint Kala Patar, 5550 meters. I remember that I was sick too (we had both taken a bit of influence) and I really suffered to reach the top.
It was worth it absolutely, I felt in my bones the proximity to the Earth’s Kundalini Energy headquarters (as locals explain, parallel to the tectonic theory, the exceptional height of the mountain).
With Anuj and Nabaraj we have not only entertained a client / agency relationship. The hearts of these people has led me to be their friend, to be hosted in their villages where I could lived with their families. With all my might I tried to help Anuj, giving him money to build a proper home for his parents. (I could understand the daily conditions). I attended to the ceremony of the “feeding rice” of Anuj’s daughter, a kind of hindu “baptism”.
I became part of the family. Recommending the services of this agency now sounds quite strange; I’m sure of one thing: Anuj and his White Hill Adventures are always perfect guides, available for whatever you need and able to make you enjoy this beautiful country.

    Thanks for your friendship.
I will always owe you something from my heart.
