Tamang Heritage Trail one of the classic short journey visiting ancient Tamang tribes, probably the first people to migrate within Nepal high Himalaya coming long way from Inner Mongolia and through Tibet to make home around high Langtang Himal hills.

Tamang Heritage Trail a scenic and cultural walks that takes you within beautiful areas of Rasuwa district within Langtang Himal within country Central Himalaya range of mountains, where you can soak into its local time-less culture of old heritage with traditional farm and animal husbandry life of Tamang villages.

Tamang Heritage Trail takes you close to Tibet border near Rasuwagaddi and into high green hills covered within dense coniferous woodland of tall rhododendron-hemlocks-pines-magnolia, different species of oaks and fir tree lines in the backdrop of white snow capped peaks of Langtang and Ganesh Himal range.

Tamang Heritage Trail commence taking an exciting overland journey to reach high cooler hills of Rasuwa district at Dhunche a major town and headquarter of the region of Langtang.

Where walk starts heading into interesting villages of Syabrubensi-Gatlang and other impressive areas enriched with lively colorful culture of ancient heritage that still exists in these remote isolated villages of Langtang Himal area.

Walk leads into well defined trails along with views entering and exploring traditional farm villages of great interest visiting its monasteries interwoven with Buddhism and ancient Bon sect practice of pre Buddhism worshipping natural spirits and mountains.

Enjoying time around villages interacting with the locals and having taste of local custom with dip in natural hot spring at Tatopani and then over high hills of Nagthali above 3,165m and10,383 ft with glorious panorama of mountains where slowly walk ends back at Syabrubensi village for drive back to Kathmandu, after a most mesmerizing cultural and scenic walks on Tamang Heritage Trail.

Detail Itinerary

Day 01: Drive to Syabrubensi 1,503 m/4,931 ft -05/6 hrs.
Morning starts with exciting drive beyond Kathmandu valley, heading north on winding road past farm villages and towns to reach warm area at Trisuli Bazaar within Nuwakot district.

From here where drive continues towards winding zig-zag road on uphill reaching cooler country at Dhunche, headquarter town of Rasuwa district within Langtang Himal, where Langtang National Park begins, from here downhill to our overnight stop at Syabrubesi within Tamang tribe village.

Day 02: Trek to Gatlang 2,238 m/7,342 ft -04/5 hrs.
First day starts heading due west avoiding motorable road for old trekking trail to reach at Gatlang village, walk continues past several spread-out farm areas of Tamang people, and then with gradual climb to reach one of the largest village of the area at Gatlang populated by Tamang tribes, on arrival with warm greeting and traditional hospitality, and then transfer to local home-stay for overnight stop, with time to explore around this interesting villages and interact with locals.

Day 03: Trek to Tatopani 2,607m/ 8,553 ft -04/5 hrs.
Morning begins facing views of Ganesh and Langtang peaks and as far north of Tibetan range of mountains, where slow climb leads past farm villages and into alpine woodlands to reach at Tatopani for overnight stop with time around afternoon to enjoy in its natural hot springs as 'Tatopani’ means hot water, where you can take a short walk to have good refreshing time in the warm pools.

Day 04: Trek to Nagthali 3,165m/10,383ft -04/5 hrs.
Morning walk leads near around the border of Tibet as walk leads towards Nagthali and Thuman, our route follows north on gradual path and with climb most of the day, but with few short downhill along with views of Ganesh Himal and Langtang Lirung, walk leads into nice cool forested area to reach at Nagthali, a moderate size village for overnight stop

Day 05: Trek Tobriddhim 2,229m/7,312 ft via view point of Nagthali - 04/5 hrs.
From Nagthali with pleasant time mixing with local and enjoying the culture of Buddhism religion, as walk leads to climb on top the highest spot of the walk and journey reaching on top Nagthali a great view point for super scenery of surrounding green hills, valley with white snow capped peaks of Ganesh-Manaslu and Langtang Himal.

After a great moment and with spectacular views downhill walk to reach at
another interesting village at Tobriddhim, with time in the late afternoon to make friends with the locals.

Day 06: Trek to Syabrubensi 1,503m/4,931ft - 04/5 hrs.
Today the last trek of this wonderful trip as walk leads to long descend into forest and within spread-out farm villages, our route leads on winding path heading to a bridge over Bhote-Kosi River of Upper Trisuli River, and then on nice gradual trails to reach Syabrubesi village for final overnight stop around Tamang people country within Langtang Himal region.

Day 07: Drive to Kathmandu 1,300m/4,265ft - 05/6 hrs.
Morning take an exciting overland drive along on winding uphill to Dhunche town and then following the road to Ramche and Manibhanjyang to reach within warmer sub-tropical areas around Trisuli and back at Kathmandu after a memorable Tamang Heritage Trail Trekking.
