Annapurna Sanctuary Trek one of the best adventure destinations around all Himalaya range, an amazing country where walks take you from low warm farm areas to reach high hills covered in dense rhododendron and pine trees.

The walk leads to climbing around nice hill villages adorned with lovely interesting cultures of age-old heritage farm life which you can witness during these marvelous walks on the trek.

Annapurna sanctuary trek combines with adventure to scenic Ghorepani and Poon Hill where you can catch glorious sunrise views over 360° wide parallel panorama of Mid West and Far Western Himalaya.

That includes world three highest peaks with Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, and Manaslu range includes majestic peak Machhapuchare popularly called as Fish-Tail with twin shaped summits appears like the tail of a fish.

After Poon Hill and Ghorepani village walk on the trail to reach Annapurna base camp our main final destinations located within scenic Annapurna Sanctuary encircled with an array of peaks that makes the area one of the most picturesque countries in whole Himalaya range.

Annapurna sanctuary trekking begins from the nice and scenic city at Pokhara, a place blessed with the natural beauty of high Annapurna peaks, rolling green hills, and serene calm lakes.

From Pokhara where a short drive takes you on foot of the hills, as the walk starts with a climb past several nice farm villages and into enchanting woodland of tall rhododendron and pine trees, wherein spring the whole hills are colorful when wild-flowers in seasonal bloom around springtimes.

On reaching cooler hill village at Ghorepani inhabited by Poon / Magar the hill tribe of Western Nepal practices both Hindu and Buddhist religion, Ghorepani situated on the base of high Poon Hill where the next morning early hike takes you on top at Poon Hill above 3,210 m high.

Poon Hill offers striking sunrise views over a mind-blowing panorama of the high mountain range and then next venture continues over high hills in the midst of beautiful rhododendron and pines trees with ups and downs on a mountain path with ever-present views of Annapurna peaks.

Walk then climbs to reach a nice and large Gurung village at Chomrong, the last permanent settlement, and door to Annapurna base camp and beautiful sanctuary, from here on the road towards Mt. Annapurna.

The adventure continues with down and ups to Modi River gorge covered in a thick forest of pines, rhododendron, and bamboo and then into a wide-open valley on reaching scenic Annapurna Sanctuary and then at Annapurna base camp the highest spot of the trek.

Enjoy fantastic views of giant peaks of Annapurna range and then heading back to Pokhara on the same trail to Chomrong as route diverts to the nice village at Jhinu a place with natural hot spring.

After a refreshing time in the hot spring of Jhinu and great adventure at Annapurna base camp where the walk ends with a short drive to reach at Pokhara, after most fascinating time and adventure on Annapurna sanctuary trek.

Outline Itinerary:

Day 01: From Pokhara drive to Nayapul and start trek to Tirkhedhunga 1,440 m – 05 hrs.
Day 02: Trek to Ghorepani 2,880 m/9,448 ft -06 hrs.
Day 03: Morning hike to Poon Hill 3,210 m continues to walk to Tadapani 2,630 m -06 hrs.
Day 04: Trek to Chomrong 1,951m – 06 hrs
Day 05: Trek to Dovan 2,130m via Bamboo 2,050 m – 06 hrs.
Day 06: Trek to Machhapuchare Base Camp 3,720 m -06 hrs.
Day 07: Trek to Annapurna Base Camp 4,130 m – 04 hrs.

Detail Itinerary

Detail Itinerary:

Day 01: From Pokhara drive to Nayapul start trek to Tirkhedhunga 1,440 m - 05 hrs.
After spending a wonderful time at scenic Pokhara by the serene Phewa Lake and views of Annapurna peaks, the morning starts with few hour drives to reach the starting point of the trek.

On reaching at the end of the road at Nayapul and beyond the village of Bhirethati where the walk begins heading up past nice farm villages and terraced field to reach at Hille within Gurung area, from Hille short walk to overnight stop at Tirkhedhunga a nice place with beautiful waterfalls nearby.

Day 02: Trek to Ghorepani 2,880 m/9,448 ft -06 hrs.            
Morning on a steep uphill to reach Ulleri village and then with a gradual climb into nice cool forest of rhododendron and pine trees to reach Ghorepani village located in the middle of rhododendron forest, populated with local Poon people of Magar hill tribe with views of Dhaulagiri range.

Day 03: Morning hike to Poon Hill 3,210 m continue to walk to Tadapani 2,630 m -06 hrs.
Morning early hike to reach on top Poon Hill scenic spot rewards you with a spectacular sunrise over wide range panorama of high mountains includes Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, and Manaslu with magnificent Machhapuchare the Fish-Tail peak.

Enjoying marvelous scenery head down to Ghorepani and continue to walk uphill into the serene forest to Deurali, facing excellent views of snow-capped peaks then descend into a gorge with short steep up to Tadapani, a small settlement with a number of good lodges in the midst of woodland.

Day 04: Trek to Chomrong 1,951m - 06 hrs
Enjoy morning views of Annapurna peaks then downhill into dense tree lines to reach at Kimrong River, where climb leads up and past Gurjong village within Gurung people the main hill tribe of Annapurna region interwoven with Buddhism religion, as walk heads on good gradual path and short descend to large Chomrong village, the last permanent village on route Annapurna sanctuary and base camp.

From Chomrong onward all the way to base camp where you will find temporary places with the lodge to cater travelers, at Chomrong for an overnight stop in the comfort of nice good lodge facing views of Annapurna range.

Day 05:  Trek to Dovan 2,130m via Bamboo 2,050 m - 06 hrs.
After a nice and pleasant stop at Gurung village, Chomrong walk begins down and up from the river towards the forested area and descend to a small place at Bamboo, a place with a number of a simple and basic lodge located within bamboo grooves.

From Bamboo few hours of gradual ups to Dovan for an overnight stop with the sound of raging Modi River nearby.

Day 06:  Trek to Machhapuchare Base Camp 3,720 m -06 hrs.
Slowly our route gets closer towards our destination as morning walk starts with winding up into a forest of pine and rhododendron to reach a place called Himalaya Hotel and then to Deurali, the last place with shops and lodge before MBC (Machhapuchare base camp).

From Deurali follow Modi River upstream with the climb to reach at Machhapuchare base camp for overnight stop beneath towering peak Fish-Tail, from here start of Annapurna Sanctuary.

Day 07: Trek to Annapurna Base Camp 4,130 m - 04 hrs.
From MBC morning to reach our main target and goal of the adventure at Annapurna base camp, where walk climb for short-while to reach a high ridge into scenic Annapurna Sanctuary surrounded by mighty peaks of Annapurna range.

At Annapurna Sanctuary

As the walk continues to reach our main highlight on the highest spot at Annapurna base camp situated at the end rim of Sanctuary the one only base in whole Himalaya that provides facilities with the comfort of nice cozy lodge.

At ABC enjoy glamorous scenery of mountains that surrounds you with towering Annapurna-I the tenth world highest at 8,091 m. 

Day 08: Trek to Bamboo 2,050m - 06 hrs.
After a fabulous time at Annapurna base camp within scenic sanctuary return journey on the same trail back downhill into green lush vegetation and tree lines to reach a Bamboo place for an overnight stop.

Day 09: Trek to Jhinu-Danda with hot spring 1,700m - 06 hrs.
Morning a short up then on a winding path within a forested area with long descend to Chomrong river and climb to the village of Chomrong for possible lunch-break.

After Chomrong our direction changes with down on new route to reach at nice Jhinu village for last overnight around high hills of Annapurna, Jhinu village with natural hot-spring nearby where one can enjoy a refreshing dip in hot pools

Day 10: Trek to Kyumi 1,100 m and drive to Pokhara 860 m- 05 hrs.
Last day walk of the adventure taking a short time to reach on the road-head, where exciting drive takes you past Bhirethati and Nayapul town and villages then on a scenic area to reach at Pokhara by the lakeside, where our wonderful adventure on Annapurna base camp and Sanctuary completes.
