Horse Ride to Jomsom-Muktinath Trek, a pleasant and scenic journey with views of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna range of mountains.

This horse riding leads to you a scenery of valley-green hills along with local impressive culture and heritage farm life.

Our horse ride hiking starts from a nice and lovely Pokhara city blessed with the natural scenery of mountains and lakes.

However, You will climb to uphill into enchanting woodland full of rhododendron tree lines. And reaching cooler areas and village of Ghorepani home of Poon-Magar people, where a hike takes you to Poonhill for stunning sunrise views over the array of the Himalayan range of mountains.

After Ghorepani on long downhill ride to reach low warmer areas and the village of Tatopani a place with natural hot-spring to enjoy a dip in its warm pools.

Moreover, short walks takes you past Ghasa-Lete and Kalopani within the alpine area with deep woodland of coniferous tree lines. We will arrive at Marpha villages, Marpha is famous for apple garden. And to reach Jomsom, a headquarter town of the whole Mustang district.

Enjoying marvelous moments at Muktinath return on the same route back to Jomsom for the scenic short flight to Pokhara or one can take an overland drive the longer ways to reach back at Pokhara. Our horse ride Jomsom-Muktinath trek finished in Pokhara.

Detail Itinerary

Day 01: Drive from Pokhara( 860m/2821ft) to Nayapul, Horse ride and trek to Ulleri 1,960 m/ 6,430 ft - 05/6hrs.    

After wonderful stop at beautiful Pokhara facing view of Annapurna Himal and Machhapuchare peaks 'Fish Tail', after breakfast heading beyond Pokhara valley to start our first day walk.

Drive leads along with grand views of Annapurna past farm villages and towns and then following Modi River upstream to reach at

Bhirethati one of the charming village within Annapurna region, from here our first day starts riding along slow winding trail with uphill to Hille and then at Tirkhedhunga overlooking cascading waterfalls.

From here steep climb on nice paved stone steps to reach at Ulleri a large and typical Hill village, inhabited mostly by Gurung tribes with thatched and slated roofs offering views of Machhapuchare Himal with Annapurna South and Huinchuli peaks.                                                

Day 02: Horse ride, walk to Ghorepani 2,880 m/9,448 ft - 5/ 6 hrs.

From Ulleri onward ride on gradual winding up trail to reach at Ghorepani as our route leads into lovely alpine woodland of rhododendron and pine trees.

After a great pleasant rides with some walk reaching at Ghorepani for next morning hike to Poon Hill, this nice village home to Poon people of Magar tribe, a hill tribe of Nepal famous as Gorkha soldiers in UK-India and other foreign countries.

This village with many good lodges offers marvelous views of Dhaulagiri-Tukuche-Nilgiri’s and Annapurna Himalayan mountains.

Day 03: Horse ride, walk to Tatopani1,150m/3,772 ft (Hot Spring) via Poon Hill View (3,210m/10531ft) - 5/6hrs.

Early morning before breakfast, an option for hike up for an hour on top scenic Poon Hill at above 3,210 m, here view striking sunrise over panorama of mountains includes Dhaulagiri-Tukuche-Nilgiri’s-Annapurna Fang (Vara Shikar) Annapurna range of peaks with majestic Machhapuchare Himal 'Fish Tail' the unclimbed and virgin peaks of Himalaya.

View includes Mt. Manaslu with Lamjung extending towards Ganesh Himal due east horizon, after a marvelous photo session head back to Ghorepani for breakfast and carry on trekking downhill into beautiful woods of rhododendron trees with views of mountains.

From Ghorepani ride and walk which leads to long descend past Chitre and Sikha villages within forested areas facing views of Dhaulagiri Himalaya to reach at low warm areas at Tatopani village with refreshing natural hot-spring to enjoy.

Day 04: Horse ride to Kalopani 2,530m/8,300 ft- 05 hrs.

From Tatopani village after a pleasant overnight stop with refreshing time in hot spring, morning ride leads following Kaligandaki River valley and into world deepest gorge of Kaligandaki, formed by towering heights of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna peaks, as ride continues with some short walks to reach at Lete and Kalopani for overnight stop within lovely forest surrounding with outmost views of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna Himalaya on both sides of this nice village.

 Day 05: Horse ride to Jomsom 2,720m/8,923 ft-05 hrs.

After Kalopani, morning ride leads to reach at Tukuche and then into one of most charming village at Marpha with white washed houses and neat paved streets.

The area around Marpha and to Jomsom famous for delicious apples, often known as Apple Pie Trail overnight in this lovely Thakali village, from Marpha heading higher into windswept dry country with an hour or more horse ride to reach at Jomsom for overnight stop in a nice cozy lodge.

Jomsom, headquarter town of whole Mustang area, and the hub of Thakali people with small airstrip that takes you to Pokhara at the end of this wonderful journey.

Day 06: Horse ride to Muktinath 3,760m/12,335 ft -05 hrs.

After a wonderful time and overnight at Jomsom, pleasant ride heads towards Kali-Gandaki River valley, a ride few hours reaches you at near Kagbeni village, where strong influence of Tibetan culture dominates from here onward.

As ride continues heading for climb on deserted landscape within Tibetan style villages of Jharkot, with time for tour of its old and interesting monastery believed to be built of 15th Century, and then our journey takes another hour to reach at Muktinath following a wide path to reach Rani Pauwa near holy temple of Muktinath.

Muktinath an important pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Buddhist, here you can witness natural flames In the heart of this sunny, magical valley of Muktinath, one of the most sacred of pilgrimage places of Nepal and Himalaya region.

Overnight in one of its many good lodges with views of Dhaulagiri-Tukuche and Nilgiri’s peaks, here with time to visit holy Muktinath Temple meaning ‘Liberty or Nirvana’ and its sacred 108 water spouts which is one of the source of great Kaligandaki River.

Day 07: Horse ride to Jomsom 2,720 m/ 8,923 ft - 05 hrs. 

Morning catching wonderful views of snowcapped peaks our last day ride on horse or pony heads downhill back at Kaligandaki River valley near a place of Eklebhatti, from here retrace the journey to Jomsom with time in the afternoon to explore interesting town of Thakali people, the early traders with Tibet on this old Trans Himalayan Salt Route Trail of Nepal and Tibet.

Day 08: Fly or Drive to Pokhara 860m/2,821ft.

Early morning after breakfast where sweeping 22 minutes scenic flight reaches at Pokhara facing views of peaks, on reaching Pokhara airport transfer to respective hotels by the lake Phewa. 

After lunch optional sightseeing tour around Pokhara like Devi’s Fall (a massive cascading waterfalls), Guptswor Cave, Vindhyabashini temple and white Seti River and its deep gorge.

Rest of the day enjoy walk along the Phewa Lake or take a boat ride around the lake.
