This moderate wonderful trip allows interested travelers to fulfill their dreams of a lifetime in the shortest ways. An amazing journey of a great combination of normal scenic flight with exciting walks and enjoyable panoramic flight on a helicopter.

The adventure starts with an early morning swift scenic flight from Kathmandu to land at Lukla’s Tenzing Camp; Hillary airport. Lukla is the gateway town for various adventures around the high Khumbu region and the most popular Everest base camp.

The trail follows the glacial Dudh Koshi River, crossing suspension bridges and Walking through Monjo village. The entrance of Sagarmatha National Park, designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is enriched with various species of flora and fauna. Includes the world’s highest peak, Sagarmatha a name for Everest in Nepal, the native calls as Chomolungma of Tibetan origin language.

From the park entrance, where a ticket is obtained at the cost of NRS 3,000 per person, along with trekking permits. Which is NRS 2,000 per trekker, collected by the Khumbu village communities for the development of the region.

Slowly the walk leads to the river bed and then crosses a high bridge with an undulating climb to Namche Bazaar. A famous and popular town in the heart of Khumbu, as well as various destinations around the high Khumbu valley.

Namche Bazaar is famous for its weekly Saturday colorful and busy market, hence it is called Namche Bazaar. A favorite and ideal place for acclimatization day for trekkers heading higher destinations to Everest base camp or Gokyo Lakes.

After a pleasant stop in the comfort of a nice lodge, facing grand views of Kongde and Tharmasarku peaks. Our route leads to a steep climb reaching on top at Syangboche facing birds-eye views of Namche Bazaar below.

The walk continues with a gradual climb to a ridge covered in lovely tall trees of rhododendron, juniper, fir, and pines. As the trail descends to a lovely glacial valley. Where Khunde and Khumjung villages are located, beneath the sacred Mt. Khumbila 5,761 m, the patron god of Khumbu Sherpa. Enjoy exploring the traditional farm life, quite different from Namche Bazaar a sleepy village of Khumjung.

At Khumjung visit the old monastery, the only place that treasures a scalp believed to be of a Yeti. Khumjung village with a High School built by the late

Edmund Hillary, was the first conqueror of Mt. Everest with Tenzing Sherpa.  Enjoy a pleasant stop in a nice guest house, and lodge a morning hike up to a high ridge at Everest View Hotel. A lovely spot with a small Helipad overlooking views of Mt. Ama Dablam, Thamserku, and Kongde peaks with Mt. Everest.

Getting on board for a flight to enchantment flying high above tree lines of Beautiful Tengboche Monastery. The flight continues heading higher over mountainous terrain past below Pheriche and Lobuche settlements.

The flight makes a swift round of the Everest base camp for passengers to catch a Glimpse of the scenery of the base camp. Which is covered in a moraine of rocks, snow, ice, and glaciers with great views of Khumbu Ice Falls. After a wonderful dramatic flight above Everest base camp, the helicopter makes a soft landing at the base of Kalapathar hilltop. A famous rocky and high Kalapathar for excellent views of Mt. Everest, similarly the landing spot is equally fascinating.

Enjoy the spectacular panorama of a giant snow mountain range that encircles the helipad beneath Kalapathar Hill. Facing the outmost grand views of Mt. Everest at a close distance, after a breathtaking experience flies back to Lukla.

Spend overnight in a nice lovely lodge, near Lukla’s Tenzing & Hillary Airport. The next morning flying in a small aircraft brings you to Kathmandu. After an overwhelming and marvelous experience on Everest Short Trek with an EBC Over fly Helicopter and Kala Pattahar landing combined tour.

THE LODGE ACCOMMODATION AND FOOD ON ROUTE EVEREST BASE CAMP SHORT TREK

Trekkers heading towards Everest base camp will be amazed to find various standards of lodge accommodation. Including a comprehensive food menu throughout the trek to Everest base camp. In the early days, the lodges were simple and basic and were known as Tea-Houses. But due to the mass flow of visitors many good lodges, inns and guest houses flourished from Lukla to Gorakshep. But higher up from Dingboche onwards due to cold temperatures and harsh climate and terrain. The lodge will have common toilets and bathe as the plumbing line will freeze, especially during morning and night time.

Most good standard lodge restaurants serve excellent and healthy, hygienic food menu, from Nepali Thali (Dal, Bhat, Mo-Mo / Dumpling, (meat or veg stuffed) Pizza, Chowmein (veg or meat and eggs topped). Includes Spaghetti, various types of pasta, noodle soup, boiled or fried eggs, and omelets.

The food list continues from simple Indian-style dry Chapatti to Tibetan bread, and Yak Stew followed by refreshing drinks. Likewise black, lemon, ginger or milk tea, coffee, and hot drinking chocolate.

The last settlement of Gorakshep with several good lodges, namely Himalayan, Sunrise, and Sherpa Lodge. At Lobuche, the lodges are Seven Peaks, Lobuche Guest House, Alpine, Above the Clouds, and National Park Guest-House.

Namche Bazaar with countless lodges, guest-house, and resorts, like Khumbu Lodge, Kailash, Namaste, Hotel Hill-Ten, and Namche Hotel.

All Hotels with fancy restaurants serve a long list of comprehensive food menus of variations. From Italian, Chinese, Mexican, Japanese, and Korean as well as Indian, Nepali, and Thai foods. Namche Bazaar with many fresh bakeries and café, as well having Bars and Pubs for nightlife.

 

Best Season for Everest Short Trek with EBC Helicopter Tour

The most preferable season is from the mid-spring beginning of March to the end of May, as well as autumn/fall starting from September to early November month.

March to May when sunlight is longer, lower areas can be very warm, and on hills with cooler air, as you get higher sunlight is brilliant on an open area. But cooler in the shade and late afternoon time, including night as well early morning till the sunlight shows. Clouds during the late afternoon can get snow sometimes around higher areas and on Larke-La Pass. Higher above sunlight is strong with UV rays due to thin air.

Next, the best season is autumn or fall from September to early November, where days are fine with crystal clear blue sky. But short sunlight hours can be very cold in the late afternoon, night, and morning times. Can get snowed in on a higher region, but mild and perfect temperatures for pleasant walks. November is also a fine month for Manaslu Circuit Trek, but most of the lodges and villages will be empty. Where villagers migrate to lower warmer areas to escape the harsh winter cold.

Personal Gear and Clothes to carry

Well-fitting, comfortable boots/shoes are to be preferred over training shoes, and clothing will be required, for strong hot sun on the drive through the lower foothills to freezing temperatures at night in the higher region. Shorts, skirts, or lightweight trousers are ideal in the heat of the day along with T-shirts, long-sleeved cotton shirts and a sun hat. During the evening and the higher altitudes, warmers clothing will be needed.

Detail Itinerary

Day 01: Flight to Lukla 2,820 m and trek to Phakding 2,657 m - 04 hrs.

Morning fly to Lukla facing a panorama of Himalayan peaks during 35 mins flight with views of Everest. As the small aircraft lands at Lukla Tenzing & Hillary Airport, have time for rest and refreshments. Start the walk on gradual trail down towards Dudh Koshi River, the trail leads to short ups and down.

The route leads past lovely Sherpa villages to reach Phakding for an overnight stop, Located by the glacial Dudh Koshi River.

Day 02: Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m - 06 hrs.

The morning starts on a gradual trail following the Dudh Kosi River upstream to Monjo and Sagarmatha National Park entrance. From here cross over a bridge to Jorsalle for a Possible lunch stop amidst the beautiful forest. Afternoon walks on the river bed and then Climb for a few hours to the famous Namche Bazaar for an overnight stop.

Namche is a perfect spot in the backdrop of Kongde peaks, and it’s a beautiful location with a series of nice buildings. Most houses serve as hotels, lodges, and restaurants with banks and post-office. A favorite place among trekkers spends an extra day for acclimatization and a short hike around its scenic viewpoints.

Day 03: Trek to Khumjung village 3,790 m from Namche Bazaar -03 hrs.

Morning just above Namche Bazaar our route diverts with a slow climb uphill to Syangboche. A flat top with an old small airstrip, from here another hour, leads to the sleepy village at Khumjung village. Enjoy the comfort of a nice lodge with the homely and traditional hospitality for lunch and an overnight stop.

An afternoon with time to explore Khumjung village and visit 500 years old monastery. Where you can witness a scalp believed of a Yeti, after some donation to the monastery. While at Khumjung enjoy a visit to the village High School built by Sir Edmund Hillary Trust, located beneath holy Mt. Khumbila the patron God of the Khumbu Sherpa.

Day 04: Hike to Everest View Hotel 3, 880 m for Helicopter tour and landing

At the base of Kalapattahar 5,242 m and flying over Everest base camp and land at Lukla for an overnight halt. 03 hours.

Enjoy the morning glorious views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam from the lodge at Khumjung. Start the early morning hike for an hour or less to Everest View Hotel Helipad. Located amidst green woodland facing grand views of giant peaks with Everest, Thamersarkhu, and Kongde with Ama Dablam.

Board on a small 5-seated chopper for an exciting flight towards Everest base camp. The Helicopter flies above Tengboche monastery heading due northeast to make a swift round above Everest base camp. Catch the dramatic scenery of arctic-like landscapes with huge fields of moraine, ice, and glaciers. The pilot makes a safe, and soft landing below the towering peaks of Mt. Pumori and Kalapathar high hill.

A perfect spot for a Helipad, overlooking the grand vista of Mt. Everest with adjoining giant peaks of Lhotse, Nuptse and Changtse. Includes an array of peaks that surrounds this wonderful spot beneath Kalapathar rocky hill.

After a marvelous and breathtaking panorama of the world's highest peaks, return journey, a short flight of less than half an hour. Making the final stop at near Lukla’s airstrip and runways, after a glorious and refreshing scenic morning.

A short walk to a nice lodge close to the airport, for lunch and an overnight halt. Enjoy the afternoon exploring Lukla's interesting market areas, lined with shops, stores, restaurants, and many lodges.

Day 05: Fly to Kathmandu at 1,300 m and transfer to your hotel.

Morning as flight time for Kathmandu, transfers to Tenzing-Hillary air terminal at Lukla. Get on board in a small aircraft for a scenic flight to Kathmandu, enjoying a scenic flight of 35 minutes. After a great enjoyable flight landing at Kathmandu, a short drive back to your hotel, after an amazing experience on Everest Base Camp Short Trek with a Helicopter combine tour.
