AmaDablam Expedition is a mountain of beauty and grace which means a Mother with a Jewel Box, which you can witness on treks near Tengboche and Pangboche, the mountain with big block of ice that remained hanging looking like some kind of precious box.

Ama Dablam Expedition -20 days, an adventure that leads you to one of the most technical climb in all Himalaya range, located above high Khumbu valley within Everest region offering spectacular scenery of dramatic landscapes and mountains from its summit top at above 6,814 m and 22,355 ft high.

Where, you will be climbing one of the highest 6,000 meters ranges of peaks of Himalayan range of peaks in the harmony of scenic views and mountains with impressive Sherpa culture of Buddhism religion.

Mt. Ama Dablam due to its wonderful location and formation of the mountain that inspires many climbers and adventurer every year to reach its summit with tough and rigorous climb.

Starting Ama Dablam Expedition taking a short fight to Lukla and then walk within nice Sherpa villages adorned with religious monuments along the trail, as well facing views of some high peaks.

As walk progress after walking through villages of Phakding and Monjo to enter at Sagarmatha National Park, designated in World Heritage Sites one of the most scenic park covering world’s highest mountains with wide range of peaks with exotic flora and fauna.

Walk leads higher on leaving Dudh Kosi River gorge and valley to reach at famous Namche Bazaar spending two nights with acclimatization days and then heading past beautiful woodland of rhododendron-oaks-pines and fir trees at Tengboche Monastery.

From Tengboche catch close views of majestic Mt. Ama Dablam with time to visit its monastery of great interest, where walk leads further on leaving green tree lines for sheer wilderness at Ama Dablam base camp after walking pas the last village at Pangboche.

Ama Dablam Expedition 25 days where real adventure starts from the base camp taking 16 days time for the climb to its summit top, after rest and acclimatization days at base camp with some practice climb before the actual start of the climb.

After enough preparations then head for the climb using the normal route from South West Ridge, offers superb climb with reasonable technical level of difficulty, where rest of the higher camp will be set at strategic platform and points along the route of climbing to reach its summit top.

On reaching the top after using several camps in between with tough sections on route, then enjoy superb panorama of surrounding peaks with Mt. Everest -Lhotse-Nuptse-Pumori, Makalu-Baruntse and as far to Cho-Oyu peaks.

Outline Itinerary       

Day 01: Kathmanduto Lukla early morning 30 minutes scenic flight then Trek to Phakding (2,612 meter/8570 feet) – 3/4 hours.
Day 02: Trek to Namche Bazzar (3,440 meter/11,287 feet) via Sagarmatha National Park check post- 6/7 hours.
Day 03: Acclimatization (rest) day in Namche Bazzar.
Day 04: Trek to Pangboche (3,930 meters/12,893 feet)-6/7 hours.
Day 05: Day trip to Ama Dablam Base Camp (4,600 meters/15,091 feet) return back Pangboche -6/7 hours.
Day 06: Acclimatization and pre climbing training at Ama Dablam Base Camp.
Day 07 to 17: Ama Dablam (6,812 meters / 22350 feet) expedition summit period.
Day 18: Trek down to Namche Bazzar(3,440 meter/11,287 feet)-6/7 hours.
Day 19 Trek Down to Lukla (2,860meter/ 9,383 feet)-6/7 hours.
Day 20: Lukla  to Kathmandu fly back.

Detail Itinerary

Day 01: Kathmandu (Tribhuvan Int´l Airport) to Lukla (Tenzing-Hillary Airport) early morning 30 minutes scenic flight then trek to Phakding (2,612 meter/8570 feet) - 3/4 hours.
Morning fly into Tenzing-Hillary airport at Lukla, an active Sherpa town, where walk takes you along a nice scenic trail to reach at Phakding village for overnight stop, located by the bank of raging Dudh-Kosi River fed from the glaciers of Khumbu Himal.

Day 02: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440 meter/11,287 feet) via Sagarmatha National Park check post - 6/7 hours.
Today walk leads to famous Namche Bazaar, where morning leads to cross over the river on the other side where nice village Monjo located with fabulous views of snow-clad peaks, and then enter Sagarmatha National Park. After time and rest continue walk along the banks of Dudh Kosi and then climb higher for few hours in afternoon time to reach Namche Bazaar, a fascinating large village or a town on route to Everest and Ama Dablam base camp.

Day 03: Acclimatization (rest) day in Namche Bazaar.
At Namche with free day to support acclimatization, where walking ups and resting at low helps with the process against high altitude and thin air. Suggested hike to Everest View Hotel or on top Namche ridge for super views of Everest-Nuptse-Lhotse with Ama Dablam and other series of peaks. Visit park museum provides you with excellent information of Khumbu area with Sherpa culture and history.

Day 04: Trek to Pangboche (3,930 m/12,893 ft)- 6/7 hrs.
From Namche on good wide trail with views of Everest and Ama Dablam, as walk leads downhill to cross a river with slow climb within cool alpine woodland to reach a beautiful spot at Tenboche  and its interesting monastery. After time visiting the monastery and overlooking views of Everest and Ama Dablam at close distance with adjoining peaks then downhill past green woodland, where gradual uphill climb takes you at last permanent village in Pangboche for overnight stop.

Day 05: Day trip to Ama Dablam Base Camp (4,600 m/15,091 ft) return back Pangboche -6/7 hours.
Today a day trip to Ama Dablam Base Camp to scout the area of the climb for next few days, where walk leads down to Imjatse River and crossing a small wooden bridge with steep climb for an hour to a grassy hill top, from here on gradual up to Ama Dablam Base Camp a huge field right beneath towering Ama Dablam. After a great day with high altitude hike return back to Pangboche for final preparation and rest the whole afternoon before the big climb in next few days.

Day 06: Acclimatization and pre climbing training at Ama Dablam Base Camp.
This morning retrace the journey of previous day to Ama Dablam base camp setting tents with spate kitchen unit, rest of the day preparation and planning for the climb as well checking equipment required for the great ascent on top Ama Dablam.

Day 07 to 17: Ama Dablam (6,812 m / 22,350 ft) expedition summit period of 11 days.
These whole 11 days period spending time getting busy packing and shifting equipments for camps and climbs, ferrying much gear required for higher camps where two to three camps will be set to reach the summit of Ama Dablam. Our route follows on moraine ridge towards east into a broad saddle facing views of Mingbo-La and head northern direction to climb around a rocky area within ridge of boulders beneath Pt.5, 705 which is the site for Camp I. From Camp I on snow and Ice slope following a mix area to reach on top of a hanging glacier (Ama Dablam), an ice crest leading to a nice position to reach Ama Dablam summit, where you will be rewarded with grand panorama of Mt. Everest towards north, after a tough and exciting climb descend back safely to base camp using Advance Camp on downhill route. At the end of 14-15 days all climbers should reach at Base Camp for final re-grouping, to assist packing equipments, start packing all climbing gears and disposing garbage in proper sites, where SPPC (Sagarmatha Pollution Control) will check the camp and depositing the litter to take away from the base camp to disposal sites or back to Kathmandu.

Day 18: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440 m/11,287 feet) - 6/7 hours.
After a great thrill on top Ama Dablam climb return journey on the same scenic route back at Namche Bazaar after a great experience on Ama Dablam climbing adventure.

Day 19: Trek to Lukla (2,860 m/ 9,383 ft)-6/7 hours.

Walk back to Lukla with much descend towards Dudh Kosi River and then past Sagarmatha National Park to reach at Phakding and towards Lukla for last overnight stop around high Khumbu within Everest.

Day 20: Lukla (Tenzing - Hillary Airport) to Kathmandu (Tribhuvan Int´l Airport) fly back.
As per your morning flight time for Kathmandu, transfer to air terminal and then board in a small aircraft for sweeping scenic flight to land at Kathmandu airport, and transfer to you hotel for some people might take a night flight back to your home country of next port of call.
