As horse ride progress on a nice and friendly animals heading past nice villages of Phakding and Monjo to reach high and famous Namche Bazaar for overnight stops which is necessary at this great height above 3,440 m, allows you to acclimatize before reaching higher areas of beautiful Khumbu upper valleys, after Namche and being close friend with the horse/ pony, continue horse ride heading up to reach at scenic top around magnificent spot Thyangboche and its colorful Buddhist monastery surrounded by green woodland and views of mountains with Everest and Amadablam peaks.

Detail Itinerary

Everest base camp horse riding trek Detail Itinerary

Day 01: Fly to Lukla from Kathmandu at Tenzing-Hillary Airport 30 minutes scenic flight then Horse ride to Phakding 2,612 m / 8,570 ft - 03 hrs.

Taking an early morning flight to reach at Lukla, the gateway Sherpa town of many adventures around high Khumbu within Everest region, from here transfer on nice strong local horse or Tibetan pony, then horse ride down-hill with some short up hills crossing few bridges to reach at overnight stop in Phakding village by the river Dudh-Kosi.

Day 02: Horse ride to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m / 11,287 ft via Sagarmatha National park check post - 06 hrs.
Today where our journey on horse ride reaches you at famous Namche Bazaar, as morning horse ride takes you on pleasant gradual trail through nice Sherpa villages and farm land to reach at Monjo and then enter Sagarmatha National Park check post, (Sagarmatha for Everest in Nepal and Sherpa calls as Chomolungma of Tibetan origin language). From here horse riding at easy pace to reach into a gorge and valley of Dudh-Kosi river, after the last high bridge where uphill and winding path takes you at Namche Bazaar, situated on a U shaped with colorful houses serving as lodge-hotels and resorts, facing fabulous views of Kongde and Thermasarkhu peaks.

Day 03: Acclimatization and Rest day in Namche Bazaar.

Day 04: Horse ride to Thyangboche Monastery 3,860 m /12,665 ft - 05 hrs.
Morning after pleasant stop at Namche ride on horse uphill for short-while and then on easy gradual wide trail facing tremendous views of Everest-Lhotse-Nuptse-Amadablam and array of peaks as horse ride continues leading downhill at Phunki-Tenga a small place where trekkers stops for lunch or refreshing breaks before few hours climb to Thyangboche Monastery, afternoon a steep haul on horse ride within beautiful green forest of rhododendron-magnolia-pines-firs-oaks and juniper trees as horse slowly brings you at scenic spot in Thyangboche Monastery.

A marvelous place surrounded by forest and snow-capped peaks with views of Everest and magnificent Amadablam with time to visit its interesting monastery and witness the monks and priest on prayer activities.

Day 05: Horse ride to Dingboche 4,410 m /14,468 ft - 05 hrs.
Leaving Thyangboche on horse ride heading downhill to a river where tree lines fades for wide open country to reach at last permanent Pangboche village, with grand views of Amadablam peak, from here heading into windswept landscapes as altitude gains to reach at Dingboche within scenic Imjatse valley facing views of Island Peak with Amadablam North Face and Lhotse mountain.

At Dingboche for overnight stop with free day next morning here transfer into a nice and cozy lodge and leave the horse for grazing around where the horse men will take good care of the horse / pony.

Day 06: Acclimatization (rest) day in Dingboche.
Another necessary rest day at Dingboche for acclimatization purpose, which helps you considerable at this height facing fabulous views of high giant mountains, where this morning take a hike, walk or on horse ride to reach at Nakarjung hill for best views facing whole of beautiful Imjatse valley and Dingboche down below within high mountains.

Day 07: Horse ride to Lobuche 4,940 m /16,208 ft - 05 hrs.
With great pleasant overnight stops at Dingboche, continue with the adventure horse riding on uphill for short-while and then on gradual up-trail to reach at Thugla a small place on route Lobuche, where Khumbu glacier melts and ends into a torrent river, on crossing a small bridge reach at Thugla for possible lunch stop, where afternoon leads to a steep climb for short hour on top Thugla ridge.

From here on nice gentle path to reach at Lobuche for overnight stop as our journey gets closer to our highlight reaching Everest Base Camp next day.

Day 08: Horse ride to Gorak-Shep 5,164 m / 16,942 ft after lunch hike to Everest Base Camp 5,364 m /17,598 ft) back to Gorakshep.
Start early morning for the big day to reach at Everest Base Camp, as horse ride leads on gentle trail and then climb to a small hill and then riding on top Khumbu glacier as ride takes you over moraine to reach a wide field at Gorak-Shep a place with few good lodges, stopping here for rest and lunch break and continue horse ride towards east direction to reach at Everest Base Camp enclosed within series of giant mountains facing close views of Khumbu Ice-Fall and glaciers.

After an exciting thrill on reaching at Everest Camp spending sometimes to marvel the views then head back to Gorakshep for overnight stop after a lovely high altitude day and horse ride.

Day 09: Early morning Horse ride to Kala Patthar 5,545 m /18,192 ft and Horse ride down to Pheriche 4,137 m / 14,340 ft - 06 hrs.

Climb to Kalapathar starts early morning so that you can catch the best views, as horse ride takes you on steep uphill and then with gradual ride just at the top walk and climb over rocks to reach the highest point of the adventure with outstanding panorama of mountains within close to Mt. Pumori and Everest at its nearest, enjoying exciting moments descend back to Gorakshep and continue horse ride to Lobuche and towards Pheriche windy valley then reaching our overnight stop at Pheriche.

Day 10: Horse ride to Namche Bazaar - 06 hrs.
Enjoying morning views of peaks from Pheriche and ride on easy path to a bridge and over hills then downhill to Pangboche all the way to a steel bridge, where climb leads for an hour into green woodland reaching at scenic Thyangboche Monastery, spending some time with rest continue descend with climb to Shanasa village where nice winding path takes you back at Namche Bazaar for overnight stop, after a lovely day on horse ride.

Day 11: Horse ride to Lukla 2,860 m / 9,383 ft - 06 hrs.

Last and final day of the adventure as well on horse / pony ride where morning takes you downhill towards Dudh-Kosi River into pleasant surroundings of alpine woodland then reaching at Sagarmatha National Park entrance and exit point, as horse ride continues towards Phakding and then good trail with last hour climb to reach back at Lukla for final overnight stop around Khumbu and Everest region ending our horse ride and a good companion.

Day 12: From Lukla fly to Kathmandu end of our service with transfer to your hotel.
Depart early morning from the hotel in Lukla for scenic flight back to Kathmandu, during air journey stunning panorama of Himalayan peaks with Mt. Everest a view that last till it lands at Kathmandu airport, and then get transferred to your respective hotels after a great adventure and memorable experience on Everest Base Camp Horse Ride Trekking.
