Introduction:

White Hill Adventure Treks & Expedition offers a grand adventure around great massive mountain range of Central Himalaya located just north of Kathmandu, an amazing journey to Yala Peak trek and climb.
Yala Peak stands high at 5,732 m /18,915 ft one of the most attractive trekking peaks around Himalaya located on the north eastern rim of Langtang area.
Adventure to Yala Peak Trek & Climb around beautiful Langtang Valley, starts with an overland drive heading north towards Langtang area of Rasuwa district located within Langtang National Park which extends 32 km north of Kathmandu (aeronautical distance) to Nepal – Tibet (China) border.
Yala Peak Trek & Climb offers wide varieties of vegetation from subtropical forest (below 1000 m), temperate oak and pine forests at mid-elevation, with alpine scrub and grasses giving way to bare rocks and snow, oaks, chir pine, maple, fir, blue pine, hemlock, spruce and various species of rhododendron make up the main forest species.

Culturally the area is mixed mostly inhabited by Tamang ethnic groups with rich Buddhist culture which have influenced the natural environment over the centuries.
Our destination leads to Kyanjin Gompa around beautiful and scenic Langtang valley with panorama of Ganesh Himal (7,405 m) Langtang Lirung (7,234 m) Ghengu Liru (Langtang II – 6571m), Kimshun (6,745m) and Shalbachum (6,918m) to the south Chimsedang Lekh forms a ridge of peaks which includes Naya-Kanga (5,846m) and Gangchempo, Tilman’s beautiful Fluted Peak, extends beyond towards Jugal Himal, terminating in Dorje Lakpa (6,980m/22,929ft).

To the east the upper meadows of the Langtang end in a massive mountain wall, forming the frontier with Tibet.

Our adventure continues leading towards moraines, glacial lakes with fantastic views of mountains, setting camp beneath Yala peak and getting acclimatized and preparation for the climb to the summit of Yala peak.

Yala peak is of less technical effort but requires physical and mentally fit to accomplish the climb, as climb grade listed as PD which means Peu Difficile / a little technical difficulty walking on glaciers, the grade is taken from Swiss / French Alpine System.

After a wonderful adventure on top of Yala Peak with great support of White Hill Adventure guides and staff, return journey leads to Dhunche via Sing Gompa to conclude this fabulous trek at Dhunche town.
From here a scenic drive to Kathmandu, on completing great adventure to Yala Peak Trek & Climb.

Trip detail:
Day 01:          Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
On reaching at Kathmandu international airport where White Hill Adventure Treks & Expedition staff will receive and then transfer you to respective hotels around Kathmandu city. After getting refreshed from the flight our guide briefs you with information of hotel, Kathmandu and Yala Peak trek & climb around Langtang valley.

Day 02:          Sightseeing tour and trek preparation.
Morning our city guide will take you for sightseeing tour at places of interest as Kathmandu valley full of world heritage sites, temples, monasteries, old king’s palaces after an interesting tour back to hotel, preparation for Yala Peak trek and climb.

Day 03:           Drive to Syabrubesi 1,460 m – 07 hours.
Starting this wonderful trekking with scenic overland drive to Syabrubesi to commence our walk to Langtang valley, drive leads north passing through towns and farm villages of Kakani, Trisuli and Ramche. As the drive leads towards cooler area beyond hills on leaving the low warm areas of rice terraces, as the air gets cooler reaching higher altitude at Langtang National Park in Dhunche town located 1,965m high, a major town of Langtang and Rasuwa district. After a brief stop journey continues further downhill on the winding road to reach first overnight stop at Syabrubesi village.

Day 04:           Trek to Lama Hotel 2,430m – 06 hours.
First day walk starts with few hours climb then walk gets gentle on gradual path through terraced farms and scattered villages. Trek continues reaching a river side where trail from Thulo Syabru meets near Bamboo place of few teahouses and lodges. After a short rest walk leads on the uphill trail into cool forest of rhododendron, oaks and pines tree lines and gorge following the Trisuli River fed from the glacier of Langtang peaks, walk follows the river upstream then on the gradual nice path to Lama Hotel for overnight stop.

Lama Hotel located in the middle of alpine forest with nice clearing for campsite and organic vegetable garden.

Day 05:           Trek to Langtang village 3,430m – 06 hours.
After a nice morning, walk starts into a river gorge with dense forested area, mid day walk reaches a nice spot at Ghoretabla (horse stable), from onwards altitude gains slowly and the air gets cooler.

After lunch afternoon walk continues to our overnight stop at Langtang village with few hours trek to reach Langtang village, a nice moderate size village of Tamang and Bhotia’s tribe people, native of Langtang region for hundreds of years.

Day 06:           Trek to Kyanjin Gompa 3,850m – 04 hours.
This morning a short half day walk to Kyanjin Gompa at Langtang valley, walk follows a short steep uphill where tree lines declines for short bushes of rhododendron, juniper and prickly Burberry bushes, walk slowly enters the wide glacial valley with incredible views of surrounding high snowcapped peaks with Dorji Lakpa, Langtang Lirung, Tsego ri, Langshsisa and Naya Kanga or Ganja la peak.

After a nice scenic walk reaching at Kyanjin Gompa for overnight stop and rest day, a wonderful spot with wide green meadows a pasture or grazing land for Yaks and other cattle’s.

Langtang valley offers view of Langtang Lirung glacier and ice fall just nearby, Kyanjin with an old small run down monastery placed on a rocky moraine ridge top, this place has a Yak Cheese Factory established some 30 years ago with Swiss technical support.

Day 07:           At Kyanjin Gompa rest and hike.

A necessary rest day at Kyanjin for acclimatization so that you can enjoy this wonderful adventure without the problem of high altitude sickness before the climb of Yala Peak.

For better views short hike to hill top of Tsergo Ri at 5,033m, quite steep offers wonderful panorama of high mountains.

Afternoon rest and marvel the panorama of Chimsedang Lekh, and Kangjal Himal, a ridge of peaks bordering the valley to the south, Naya Kanga 5,844m. stunning views of the great mountains flanking the Langtang valley, including Ganchenpo 6,387m, Dorje Lakpa 6,990 m, Pemthang Karpo Ri 6,830m, Langtang Lirung 7,245m and across the northern boundary in Tibet rises the huge massive Shishapangma 8,046 m the last 14th world’s highest mountain.

Day 08:           Trek to Yala Peak Base Camp 4,400 m / 14,435 ft – 06 hours.
Heading from Kyanjin Gompa to our goal and highlights of the adventure, walks leads on rocky glacier and then with steep climb into icy trail to reach a flat camping area beneath Yala Peak to set our base camp at 4,400m.

The camp offers super views of Ganchenpo, Naya Kang, Tserko Ri, Yala peak and others peaks.

Day 09:          Trek & Climb to Yala Summit 5,732 m / 18,806 ft to base camp.

Our adventure to the top of Yala Peak starts early morning with climb to the summit depending on weather conditions also. The climb is of less technical effort but it takes about eight hours to reach the summit and back to base camp.

After a tough climb to the summit at 5,732 meters / 18,806 feet, offering superb panorama of Shishapangma, Dorje Lakpa, Ganchenpo, Naya Kang, Tserko Ri, Langtang Lirung and many other mountains on Tibet side, after a marvelous moment on top descend safely to base camp.

Day 10:           Reserve and contingency day in case of bad weather.

We have reserved an extra day as contingency in case of bad weather conditions
some times weather can be unpredictable. If all goes well as the itinerary use this extra day on the way back to Dhunche.

Day 11:           Return to Kyanjin Gompa -05 hrs.

Leaving Yala Peak base camp, trek to Kyanjin Gompa following an icy path enjoying the views to reach Kyanjin Gompa for overnight stop in the comfort of nice cozy lodge.

Day 12:           Trek to Lama Hotel – 06 hrs.

After a wonderful stop at Kyanjin within beautiful Langtang valley, morning walk with long descend most of the way to Lama Hotel passing by Langtang village and Ghoretablea following the Langtang Khola and back at Lama Hotel for overnight stop.

 Day 13:           Trek to Thulo / Upper Syabru 2,211m – 05 hrs.

From Lama Hotel, morning walk follows with views on downhill to Bamboo a small settlement with few teahouses serving as lodge. After a short break walk past farm terraces of millets, corns and wheat’s (depending upon the time of season), on leaving farm area walk leads uphill on winding trail to Upper or Thulo Syabru for overnight stop.

Thulo Syabru an interesting village, where houses are linked together with an old monastery above the village.

Day 14:           Trek to Shing Gompa 3,330m – 05 hours.

After Thulo Syabru, morning walk on high path into forest of rhododendron, pines, and hemlocks trees with views of Ganesh Himal, Manaslu Mountains with Langtang Lirung, after hours of climb reaching a level area. From here on gentle path to Shing Gompa also called Chandanbari for overnight stop. This small place houses few nice lodges and a small cheese factory with old monastery.

Day 15:           Trek to Dhunche 1,950 m – 05 hrs.

From Shing Gompa, our last day walk of this trip leads downhill into pine and rhododendron tree lines, around this area rare Red Panda are often seen, after a nice walk cross the bridge and then a short climb on the main road to reach at Dhunche town for last overnight stop in this lovely Langtang area.

 Day 16:           Drive back to Kathmandu -06 hrs.
Morning drive leads downhill passing farm villages of Tamang people around Ramche and Kalikathan and on good road reaching at Kathmandu with afternoon free for individual activities and shopping.

 Day 17:           International departure for home ward bound.
After a memorable time and great adventure on Yala Peak Trek & Climb around Langtang valley, with great services of White Hills Hill Adventure Treks & Expedition,
as per the flight time our staff transfer you to airport for final departure homeward bound.

The sightseeing and activities were better than we even thought! I still can’t believe we did so much in such a short time, but we did not feel stressed. We really loved the tour and would do it all over again in a minute! Thanks.
