The trek starts with a swift short flight from Kathmandu to Lukla town. Then walk starts exploring lovely Sherpa farm villages decorated with religious monuments of Buddhist religious villages overnight.

The walk continues past Sagarmatha National Park enriched with exotic flora and fauna entering into the cool shade of the alpine forest with the climb to the famous Namche Bazaar unto high Khumjung village located in a scenic glacial valley.

Enjoy grand views of Mt. Everest with another array of peaks walk into nice cultural villages around Khumjung and visit its old monastery with the hike to Everest View Hotel for a clear and close look of Mt. Everest.

Best Season for Everest Short Trek

The best seasons for high Khumbu and Everest areas are spring and autumn/fall. The spring starts in March and ends in May, a lively time for pleasant walks and scenic views. Most days are fine and clear with enough sunshine hours till late afternoon. The sun rises before 6 a.m. and sets by 5:30 or 6 pm, days are longer with enough sunshine. Afternoons can get cloudy sometimes, with chances of light rains and snowfalls. Cold mornings and the late afternoon till nighttime with extra wind chill factor. It also depends on the altitude and overnight stops around the high Khumbu and Everest regions.

Spring is also the best time for nature lovers when wildflowers are in seasonal bloom. Especially, rhododendron flowers of various colors and species from tall trees to bush rhododendrons known as azalea.

The next best season is autumn/fall; most days are bright with sunshine for clear views. Autumn/fall starts from September to November, the high season in Nepal for trekking. Days are fine with crystal clear blue sky and it gets dark soon due to shorter sunshine hours. Morning and late afternoon until nighttime are cold, with chances of snowfall above 3,000 m.

Interested trekkers can enjoy the Khumbu and Everest treks during the winter season of December until February. It will be a great Christmas and New Year Holiday with fewer trekkers to encounter. During winter most days are fine and clear with blue sky. 04: How are the food and accommodations in Everest short trek?

Most trekking routes, from the last few years, offer good lodge facilities. The lodge has excellent, neat, and cozy rooms mostly around Annapurna, Everest, and Langtang regions. The popular mainstream trekking routes offer an excellent food menu. Depends on season-wise with fresh organic vegetables and fruits. Most lodges on main trekking routes offer rooms with attached baths and toilets, running hot and cold water for 24 hours. Higher areas rooms with common baths and toilets, due to cold temperatures harsh climate, and rough terrains.

05: What happens if one gets sick on trek?

White Hill Adventures guides are fully prepared for this situation and carry medical kits for minor wounds and sicknesses. The guides have gone through yearly medical courses and First Aid Training. If the condition is serious, it needs immediate evacuation by the fastest means of transport. For safe and quick evacuation take a helicopter service to transfer the patient to the best hospitals in Kathmandu. In case of serious illnesses and unfortunate accidents, all clients should purchase travel and medical insurance to cover extra expenses. The guide will contact the head office for a helicopter to evacuate the sick person to the nearest hospital.

06: What do we expect on Everest short trek?

Depending upon the area of trekking routes. Nepal is a country of high hills and downhill, even on average moderate treks with ups and downhill to encounter. Only with few gradual trails for the pleasant walks, in most treks walking through traditional rural farm villages. Adorned with age-old culture and religions Hindu and Buddhism. Detail Itinerary

Day 01: Fly to Lukla 2,860 m and trek to Monjo 2,835 m / 9,301ft via Phakding 2,640 m. 05-06 hrs walk.

Early morning pick up from your Kathmandu hotel and transfer to Kathmandu domestic airport for a short and scenic flight to Lukla, taking a smaller aircraft (Twin Otter or Dornier) during 30 minutes on air facing panorama of Himalayan peaks with Mt. Everest, as the plane lands at Tenzing & Hillary airport in Lukla.

From here a slow start with a few hours of walks downhill past many Sherpa farm villages with well-tended crops and vegetable fields and terraces with occasional views of snow-capped peaks of Kwangde and Kusum Khanguru, and then reaching our first overnight stop at Monjo, after walking past Phakding in the comfort of nice and cozy lodge.

Day 02: Trek to Khumjung 3,790 m /12,434 ft via Namche Bazaar 3,440 m /  11,286 ft - 05-06 hrs.

Today a long uphill walk to reach at famous Namche Bazaar and beyond Khumjung village, the morning starts reaching Sagarmatha National Park entrance near Monjo village, ‘Sagarmatha’ for Everest in Nepalese, while Sherpa calls Chomolungma (of Tibetan origin) in both languages, means 'Great Mother'. You will have a great time on this day, This is the main day of our Everest Short Trek

From here a pleasant walk on the river bed then climb for a few hours into the forested trail with views of snow-capped peaks, as this scenic walk reaches you at exciting Namche Bazaar.

At Namche Bazaar for a refreshing lunch stop, afternoon uphill from Namche to reach a hilltop, as the route diverts with a climb to Syangboche, a small settlement with an old airstrip.

Facing views of mountains as the walk leads with gradual ups and downs to reach one the largest villages of Khumbu at Khumjung.

Khunde and Khumjung villages are located within scenic glacial valleys beneath the peaks of holy Khumbila, the patron god of Khumbu Sherpa. Here with time visit it another old monastery, the only place where you can witness a scalp believed to be of Yeti, which is kept safe and secure in a glass box where visitors to see with some donation.

Day 03: Trek down to Lukla 2,860 m/ 9,383 ft transfer to lodge - 06 / 07 hrs

Morning hike up to Everest View Hotel where you can overlook Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse with Amadablam, and a series of peaks, after afresh morning walks and glamorous scenery, the last day walk of the adventure follows a long descent past Namche Bazaar and Monjo.

As walk leads towards Phakding and Ghat villages crossing a few times over Dudh Kosi, and then with a short climb to reach Lukla for the last overnight around high and scenic Khumbu within the Everest region before Kathmandu.

Day 04: From Lukla fly to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

Morning flight to Kathmandu with a panorama of mountains to Kathmandu, at Kathmandu domestic airport our staff will transfer you back to your hotel with a free afternoon to relax after a great time on the Everest Short Trek 4 days.
