CHAMPA DEVI DAY HIKING

To reach Champa Devi’s high scenic green hills with various exciting routes as options.
The most interesting of this wonderful hiking is walking, from the south of Kathmandu city and valley rims. A short drive to the starting point of hiking to Champa Devi Hill at above 2,180 m/ 7,153 feet high.
The walk begins upon reaching the religious and historical farm village of Pharping. A renowned holy site for Buddhist followers, where 8th Century saint Guru Rinpoche / Padmasambhava mediated.
The walk follows with a steady gradual climb amidst a lovely cool shade of rhododendrons, oaks, pines, and magnolia forest. The trail leads through smaller farm areas and hamlets, facing views of Kathmandu Valley and the city.
After a few hours of interesting hiking reaching the high ridge top of Champa Devi. Enjoy the bird’s eye views of the Kathmandu city and surrounding green hills from the temple on top. Includes stunning panorama of the Central, Mid-East, and Western Himalayan snow peaks, from Manaslu, Ganesh, and Langtang Himal range. It extends towards Jugal Himal with Gaurishankar, and as far as Everest range towards the eastern horizon. Enjoy the refreshingly cool mountain air within the pristine surroundings, and far from the maddening world of civilization for a few hours. As a responsible traveler have respect for the holy temple of the Goddess, Champa-Devi. The Goddess with various manifestations of the Goddesses Durga and Parvati, as per the epics of Hindu religions. Devotees and pilgrims visit for worship and prayers and the belief is that it protects the villagers from evil spirits.
Goddess Champa Devi is revered as the guardian and protector. Most villagers pay homage, especially during Nepal’s big festivals of Dashain. Which falls during the end of September or the first week of October as per the Hindu Lunar
calendar.

OPTIONS FOR RETURN ROUTES
After a refreshing morning hike, with a few options for the return journey for the drive back to the hotel. Either walk to Pharping with a long stretch of descents on the same exciting trail. The next option is the route to Taudaha, a place with a lovely lake of Kirtipur. Then hiking, for a few hours to Chandragiri, another beautiful viewpoint and a park, enjoy the comfort of a cable car to reach the parking. For the drive back to the hotel reaching in the late afternoon, after a wonderful experience on Champa Devi Hiking.
The other route is a hike up to a high ridge of Bhasmesur at 2,622 m / 8,734 feet. From the top, descend for an hour to Majhgaon, a small farm village that leads to Kirtipur town. An hour or less drive back to the hotel. After covering a distance of approx. 12 km or 8 miles one way.

Day Trip Itinerary: Our guide will come to pick you up at your hotel at 7:30 am, then drive to Gokarna Resort. Hiking to Champadevi Hills, 5 hours. Back to hotel at 4/5 pm.
