Best Season for Annapurna Base Camp Trek

The best time to embark on the Annapurna Base Camp Trek is during the spring season (March to May) and autumn (October to November) seasons. During this time of the year, the weather conditions are stable, with mild temperatures making it suitable to trek. Furthermore, the skies are clear, with the best visibility of the surrounding mountain ranges. Whereas, at higher altitudes, over 3000 meters, temperatures can range from 5°C to 15°C during the day and  -5°C to -10°C at night. Detail Itinerary

Day 1: Kathmandu to Pokhara (Drive). 6-7 hrs

  • Altitude: Pokhara – 830 m / 2723 ft
  • Duration: 7 hours
  • Your journey to this incredible trek begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara via Tourist Bus. With a drive of about 7 hours, you’ll pass through many checkpoints, experiencing the countryside of Nepal before finally reaching Pokhara. A city nestled in the lap of the Annapurna region that serves as a gateway to some of the best trekking trails.

Day 2: Pokhara to Nayapul Drive and trek to Ghandruk.

  • Altitude: Ghandruk – 1940 m / 6364 ft
  • Duration: 6 hours
  • Early Morning drive from Pokhara to Nayapul (2 hours), the starting point of your trek. From Nayapul, you join the trail that leads you to Ghandruk, a traditional Gurung village that settles on a hillside. With a 6-hour walk, get greeted by stunning views of Mt. Annapurna and Mt. Macchapucchere from Ghandruk.

Day 3: Ghandruk to Chomrong.

  • Altitude: Chomrong – 2170 m / 7119 ft
  • Duration: 6 hours
  • Early morning trek from Ghandruk and trek towards Chomrong, another charming village along the trail. The trails get beautiful day by day as you ascend through lush forest covered in rhododendrons. As you soak in the beauty of the Annapurna Landscape and continue your day, the view gets better and better. Reach Chomrong in about 6 hours and spend the night.

Day 4: Chomrong to Bamboo.

  • Altitude: Bamboo – 2310 m / 7578 ft
  • Duration: 5 hours
  • Continue your trek from Chomrong to Bamboo, passing through vibrant forests and crossing multiple streams along the way. Noticing small changes in the landscape and the vegetation around you, the Himalyas get closer and closer with each step. After about 5 hours of trekking, reach Bamboo and settle in for the night.

Day 5: Bamboo to Deurali.

  • Altitude: Deurali – 3230 m / 10597 ft
  • Duration: 5 hours
  • The day starts as you start your trek from Bamboo to Deurali, ascending further into the heart of the Annapurna Sanctuary. You traverse through the rocky terrain, the greenery slowly fades, as the alpine meadows take over. The trail to Deurali offers some of the best panoramic views of the surrounding peaks. Reach Durali in about 5 hours and spend the night.

Day 6: Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp.

  • Altitude: Annapurna Base Camp – 4130 m / 13549 ft
  • Duration: 6 hours
  • The day has finally come when you’ll be conquering the great Annapurna Base Camp. As you ascend through the rugged landscapes with awe-inspiring views of surrounding peaks before finally Annapurna Base Camp. Be proud of yourself, and get lost in the moment. Day 7: Annapurna Base Camp to Bamboo.

  • Wake up with a magical sunrise, as the golden hues of sun rays paint the whole Himalayan region. With a cup of coffee and such a great view, you begin your descent. Retracing your steps, and cherishing the final views of these majestic peaks you move back to Bamboo. The downhill trek takes about 8 hours, offering you plenty of time to reflect on your journey.

Day 8: Bamboo to Jhinu Danda.

  • Altitude: Jhinu Danda – 1760 m / 5774 ft
  • Duration: 6 hours
  • Descent more from Bamboo to Jhinu Danda, where you can relax and unwind in the natural hot springs. With 6 hours of descent, enjoy this last moment admiring the trail for one last time. Upon reaching Jinu Danda, relax and rejuvenate in the natural hot springs there. Taking away all your physical fatigue from days of hard work, you really deserved this moment today.

Day 9: Jhinu Danda to Nayapul to Pokhara Drive.

  • Altitude: Pokhara – 830 m / 2723 ft
  • Duration: 7 hours
  • Descend all the way to Nayapul in about 4 hours, From there, you drive back to Pokhara, where the evening is all yours to enjoy. Walk beside the lakeside, and enjoy the vibrant city of Pokhara.

Day 10: Pokhara to Kathmandu Drive.

  • Altitude: Kathmandu – 1300 m / 4265 ft
  • Duration: 8 hours
  • As the day nears, you bid farewell to this beautiful city of lakes. Early morning you drive back to Kathmandu, the 7 hours of long drive serves as the perfect opportunity to reflect on this incredible journey. You return back to Kathmandu, with hearts full of memories that will be cherished forever.
