Annapurna base camp (ABC) via Ghorepani Poon Hill trek, the walk starts from warm sub-tropical temperatures to reach cooler alpine hills. Your adventure begins with a short drive from picturesque Pokhara to reach the trekking start point Nayapul.
From here, the walks lead through nice lovely farm villages Ulleri to enter into enchanting woodland of tall rhododendron and pine trees. After crossing George forest walks, you arrive at the famous village of Ghorepani. A village is an amazing place populated by the Magar-Poon hill tribe of western Nepal. The next day, You have to start an early morning hike that takes you to scenic Poon Hill facing stunning sunrise over the Three world’s highest mountain range like Mt. Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, and Manaslu with majestic peak Fish Tail (Machhapuchare Himal).
Enjoying fabulous moments on top Poon Hill. The next adventure continues heading high hills within dense rhododendron forest with scenic views of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna peaks. And within Annapurna Sanctuary where base camp located, as well the highest spot of the adventure.
With ample to marvel at the beauty of the surrounding marvelous mountain panorama at ABC within the scenic sanctuary. Our journey leads you on the same trail downhill for 2 days. Detail Itinerary
Day 01: Drive from Pokhara 860m/2821ft to Nayapul and trek to Ulleri 1,960 m / 6,430 ft) - 05 hrs
With pleasant overnight stop in Pokhara, where morning short drive leads you to the starting point of our trek at Nayapul town or from Bhirethati village, a nice place on the side of Modi River, where walk starts heading with slow uphill into villages overlooking cascading waterfalls entering forest and farm areas with climb to reach Tirkhedhunga, a nice farm village close to its beautiful waterfalls. From Tirkhedhunga morning walk uphill on stone-paved steps all the way to reach a high ridge top at Ulleri village for overnight stops after a tough walk of few hours. Ulleri a large Gurung and Magar village facing views of rolling hills and snow-capped peaks of Annapurna South, Huin Chuli and top of Machhapuchare Himal.
Day 02: Trek to Ghorepani 2,880 m / 9,448 ft - 05 hrs.
From Ulleri after a pleasant overnight morning walk continues on winding gentle path within oaks-pines and rhododendron forest, and then slowly gaining altitude to reach Ghorepani village. Ghorepani offers fantastic views of Mt. Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, and Vara-Shikar also called Annapurna Fang, a village with blue painted houses serving as good lodges located at the base of Poon Hill, populated with Poon people of Magar ethnic tribe.
Day 03: Morning hike to Poon-Hill 3,210 m / 10,531ft and trek to Tadapani 2,721 m / 8,927 ft - 05 hrs.
Starting early morning hour hike to Poon-Hill above 3,210 m and 10,531 ft high, offers stunning views of the sunrise over a range of mountains from Mt. Dhaulagiri, Mt. Manaslu to Annapurna and as far to Ganesh Himal including Mt. Machhapuchare “The Fish Tail”. After enjoying wide angle panorama views of mountains with sunrise walk back to Ghorepani and then continue trek to Tadapani, our route leads to a climb into enchanting rhododendron forest all the way to Tadapani for overnight stops, Tadapani situated in the middle of rhododendron, magnolia and oaks forest with fabulous view of Mt. Machhapuchare and Annapurna South peaks.
Day 04: Trek to Sinuwa 2,360 m / 7,742 ft -06 hrs.
From Tadapani catching morning views of Annapurna peaks, where walks leads to a long descend entering into dense rhododendron and pine forest to reach at Gurjong village near Kimrong valley, after crossing a bridge with uphill to a ridge reaching gradual winding path paved with fine stonework to reach above Chomrong village and then a short descend to reach a nice and large village of Chomrong. A large Gurung village and last permanent human settlement on route to Annapurna Base Camp and Sanctuary, after Chomrong on downhill, to cross a bridge over Chomrong river with uphill to Sinuwa located on a high ridge with couple of Tea-House and shops facing grand views of dramatic landscapes of surrounding hills and valley with snow-capped peaks of Annapurna Himalaya range.
Day 05: Trek to Deurali 3,230 m /10,597 ft via Bamboo 2,050 m / 6,725 ft - 06 hrs.
After a pleasant overnight at Sinuwa where walk leads into deeply forested areas on winding ups and then descend into dense woodland with bamboo grooves to a place called also as Bamboo. Bamboo a small settlement to cater needs of the trekkers with many good lodges located in a river gorge surrounded by a forest of rhododendron-pines and bamboo. From the Bamboo place, a walk is gradual into woods with easy ups to reach at Dovan, located within Modi River gorge a place with few lodges for travelers. Slowly our adventure leads closer to our aim and highlight as walk leads into winding ups into the forest past Himalaya Hotel, located next to large overhanging cave Hinko which is directly beneath Annapurna South and Huin-Chuli peaks. From Himalaya Hotel downhill near Modi River than with short climb to reach at Deurali for an overnight stop, Deuarli onwards where tall tree lines stop for short alpine bushes.
Day 06: Trek to Annapurna Base Camp 4,095 m /13,435 ft - 04 hrs.
From Deuarli morning walk carries with uphill following raging Modi river right up to Machhapuchare base camp, located at the bottom of majestic North Face of Machhapuchare Himal ‘Fish Tail’. After a refreshing stop at MBC (Machhapuchare base camp), an easy and short morning walk to reach our main highlight at Annapurna base camp, from Machhapuchare where Annapurna Sanctuary starts right up to base camp, walk leads to short ups to reach a level ground on a huge field or a plateau within Sanctuary enclosed by array of peak and soon walk leads to a welcome sign-post of Annapurna Base Camp. Reaching our final destination and the highest spot at above 4,095 m high situated beneath towering Mt. Annapurna and range of other peaks of Vara-Shikar, Gangapurna with Annapurna South. Annapurna Base Camp, one and only base camp in the whole Himalaya region with a facility of the nice and cozy lodge including nice food menu and rooms facing amazing views of Annapurna peaks.
Day 07: Trek to Bamboo 2,050 m / 6,725 ft - 06 hrs.
Enjoying lovely scenery of peaks at Annapurna base camp, today a long walk of near six hours on the downhill with few short ups to reach a Bamboo place for an overnight stop, and back into tall tree lines and lush vegetation, after being on arctic zone climate at Annapurna base camp and sanctuary.
Day 08: Trek to Jhinudanda with hot spring 1,700 m / 5,577 ft - 06 hrs.
The return journey back to Chomrong with ups and downhill trail, from Chomrong hilltop our route diverts to another fresh new trail to reach at nice hill village at Jhinu located on a ridge with grand scenery of rolling hills and mountains. Jhinu provides refreshing natural hot-spring for interested people which is a mere distance downhill of half-hour to the hot spring with two nice warm pools close to raging Modi-River.
Day 09: Trek to Kyumi drive to Pokhara 860 m / 2,821 ft -05 hrs.
Our last day of marvelous walks around high hills of Annapurna, morning catching views of Annapurna peaks as walk leads downhill past farm villages following Modi River downstream to reach lower warm farm areas at Kyumi village, from here drive back to beautiful Pokhara.
