Introduction of trekking and mountains and forest

Since the 1960s when Col Jimmy Robert’s organized the first commercial trek in Nepal it has attracted many trekkers from around the world. In Nepal trekking is the leading activity of tourists. Because many tourists came to Nepal for a long trek and high mountain passes and some do a few days hike. Most famous and popular trekking regions in Nepal are the Himalayan regions. On which most admired regions are Everest and Annapurna where many mountains and trails with natural beauty.

Nepal, famous for trekking, it is also famous for the colorful rhododendron forests. Rhododendron calleds “ Lali Guras” in Nepali. Most part of the Mountain region of Nepal lies in Higher altitude Higher amount of Rhododendron can be found here. Rhododendron starts to be seen from 1000m altitude. Many tourists get surprised with the beautiful colored forest of rhododendron.

Rhododendron which has the 1024 species in their family of flowers. And red rhododendron is the National flower of Nepal. The beautiful species of Rhododendron found in the mountain and the hilly region in Nepal which fills the whole hill with red forest during the blooming season. As there are different species of flowers there are also different colors of it.

Like red Rhododendron white Rhododendrons are also found in Nepal which is called “Seto Gurnas” in Nepali. As Red Rhododendron is found in abundance but white Rhodendron commonly not found. White rhododendrons cannot be found in the Hilly region like Red Rhododendron they are located in the Himalayan region.

Rhododendron is evergreen or deciduous, mainly found in Asia. Rhododendron forest fills the whole hill with flowers that make it red. While on the mountain region at foothills Red rhododendron can be seen and at the top Shining Mountains will provide some sensation cool feeling to trekkers. Rhododendron only has five anthers per flower. Pink varieties can also be found a mix of red and white colors in different shades.

There are many kinds of species with different colors that are found in Nepal like red, maroon, white, yellow, and pink. These species cover the huge swathes of land and commonly found species.

Where rhododendron forests can be found?

Rhododendron which can be seen from 1000m high altitude can be commonly seen in Nepal. In Nepal rhododendron forest can be found easily. According to researchers, Nepal has 33 species of rhododendron and among them, 31 species are found in Province 1 only. There are different types of rhododendrons in Illam and Panchthar. And filled with many different varieties of rhododendron in Barun National Park. The amazing beauty of flowers not only attracts nature lovers but also researchers and tourists. Nowadays Ayurbedhik industry also giving attention to the Rhododendron forests due to the herbal benefits.

Rhododendron doesn’t like the full morning sun in winter, unlike many other blooming plants. On Tinjure, Milke, and Panchthar high amounts of dense rhododendron forest can be seen.

Best season for trekking with forest

Rhododendron is a beautiful forest which depends on altitude, between Mid-March to Mid-May is a very good trekking tour time. On this time days get longer and longer and you can find very low tourists or trekkers on the way with the enchanting floral beauty of the Himalayas which will activate trekkers. But well in the spring season, there can be snow-covered and which makes it hard for passing which can also be not passable. And later spring rainfall can become a bigger problem because the more likely rain in the afternoon and which may also cause thunder and lighting.  But after rain, it is a guarantee that the next day radiantly beautiful. In summer it will be hotter for hiking at a lower altitude and then it would be better for reaching higher altitude.

From an altitude of 4000m, the transform of spring can be seen in their petals which change colors from bright white to purple-red an amazing blaze color. On Himalaya’s giant Himalayas with shining sun creates breathtaking contrast. In the 19th-century rhododendron species were discovered in the Himalayas, southern China, on the high peaks of Borneo and Java.

Conclusion

In Nepal, it doesn’t require a long journey or distance to see all the dense and beautiful rhododendron forests and all the varieties of the flowers. Rhododendrons can be seen in some places thinly and in some places thickly scattered species can be seen in close distance. Nepali months Baisakh and Chaitra can be the flowers full of bloom. Trekking in Nepal would be an amazing experience and rhododendron forests would brighten the journey.
