Everest Base Camp Trek – 12 Days Itinerary

The Everest Base Camp Trek, which is by the way legendary, will take you right into the heart of the Himalayas, where your eyes will be overwhelmed by the fabulous views, while your mind will get to the truest sense of cultural immersion. Here’s a detailed description of the itinerary:

Day 1: Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla (2800 m) 35 minutes. And Trek to Phakding (2600 m) 3-4 hrs. 

This exciting trip started on a plane ride from Kathmandu to Lukla town which is literally tucked away in the hills. Once you board the airplane, you’ll be amazed at the spectacular sight of the mountains beneath. As soon as you land in Lukla, you will realize that the real adventure starts and you will hit the notorious trekking trail.

Day 2: Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3440 m). 5-6 hrs.

The trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar is all wonder for eyes as it is filled with scenic charms. Fed with forests, which are beautiful green lawns or you have to cross the suspension bridges decorated with prayer flags while experiencing the ridges of snowy peaks at far distance. A charming and scenic town Namche Bazaar beckons guests to enjoy its vibrancy and great views of some mighty mountains.

Day 3: Acclimatization Day in Namche Bazaar. Hike up to Everest View Point (3880 m).  

Acclimatization is a key element that will make a trek in the region a success because of high altitude. A day in Namche Bazaar shall be dedicated to make the required air adjustments as you stroll the market exhibiting beautiful items that belong to the Sherpa group while viewing the magical sceneries.

Day 4: Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (3800 m). 4-5 hrs.

The path now takes you to Tengboche, the center of the biggest stupa in the country above the Sagarmatha National Park. As you reach those areas, you will be amazed by the spectacular view of vast areas of forests with rhododendron flowers lined up on one side and towering peaks on the other side.

Day 5: Tengboche to Dingboche (4400 m). 4-5 hrs.

As you move higher through the Himalayas from Dingboche, you will cross beautiful pastures that are framed villages of Sherpa. You will notice landscape changes as you move up with the picturesque panoramas of white-peaked giant mountains.

Day 6: Acclimatization Day in Dingboche. 

Another day of acclimatization gives your body a chance to catch up with the altitude before making such a significant step to higher altitude. You are going to be able to take a hike to the nearby viewpoints which will give you a feeling of escaping into nature and being inspired by the majestic mountains all around.

Day 7: Dingboche to Lobuche (4940 m). 4-5 hrs.

After the trail climb more gently uphill to Lobuche where the air becomes thinner and the way more challenging. Memorials alongside the path bring to our memory the painful conditions and courageous acts for mountain climbing in the area of Everest.

Day 8: Lobuche to Gorak Shep(5100 m) to Everest Base Camp (5364 m) and back to Gorak Shep. 5-6 hrs.

Finally, the destination you have been working towards arrives as you make a trek to Everest Base Camp. To descend upon the Khumbu Glacier, you will eventually arrive at the legendary base camp, which will ensure your astonishment by the glacier hanging around on the edge of the big rocks. Finally, you will gain a glimpse of the awe-inspiring landscapes that is a surefire way to a delightful experience and only after this, you will return to Gorak Shep for the night.

Day 9: Gorak Shep to Kala Patthar and to Pheriche (4370 m). 4-5 hrs.

Loading up the trail to Kala Patthar really early to kiss the sun and to greet Everest and the other humble giants of the mountain world is the best thing that can happen to you. As you are back from the highest portion of your trip, you will descend to it and enjoy the success you achieved by walking on the trek.

Day 10: Pheriche to Namche Bazaar (3440 m). 4-5 hrs.

As you go on going deeper, the air around you begins to seem denser and the landscape is again different. Getting back to Namche Bazaar, you will feel the memory of your deeds. However, you will also stay happy with the companionship formed.

Day 11: Namche Bazaar to Lukla (2800 m). 5-6 hrs

The final stage of the trek takes you back to Lukla, hence, the place where the journey was also unveiled. With the pride feeling growing, you close your eyes to the mountains and the friends that you might have made on this journey.

Day 12: Lukla to Kathmandu (1400 m). 35 Minutes.

Hike to the final scenic flight to Kathmandu where the memories of EBC Trek would stay with you for another lifetime.

Everest Base Camp Trek – 16 Days Itinerary

The 16-day trip to the Everest Base Camp is an unforgettable journey through the dramatic Himalaya Range, within which a blend of thrill, culture and natural beauty reaches its peak. Here’s a detailed description of each day of the itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu 

You find yourself in Kathmandu, the heart and soul of Nepal, teeming with vibrancy and rich culture. Every of these impressions, sounds, and smells of the bustling town welcomes you when you settle down in a hotel with the evident thoughts what the expedition ahead is of.

Day 2: Kathmandu Sightseeing and Trek Preparation 

You move on to a knowledgeable tour of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Kathmandu city, where you can see the vestiges of ancient temples and fabulous designs. Then comes the journey of preparation for the tour, where you make sure to have everything you need on board and have the information about the place where you are going.

Day 3: Flight to Lukla and Trek to Phakding 

Spectacular flight flies you over the clouds straight to Lukla airport where your walking adventure starts. Thereafter, you will be taken to Phakding, walking along the sparkling Dudh Koshi River while enjoying the amazing landscape dotted with suspension bridges all covered with beautiful prayer flags.

Day 4: Trek to Namche Bazaar 

Altitude sickness is quite common to people of low altitude regions as the body will require time to adjust to low levels of oxygen at higher elevations. A myriad of visuals and sensual experiences touch you as the sights and sounds of a new environment unfold before your eyes, and you become part of the community.

Day 5: Acclimatization Day in Namche Bazaar  

It is at that rest day in Namche Bazaar that you realize how to acclimatize to the altitude. Traveling the village; expanding your knowledge by visiting monasteries; and awe being your emotion upon viewing Everest and its neighboring peaks overwhelm your mind.

Day 6: Trek to Tengboche 

The hike keeps going with Tengboche where you pay a visit to the historic monastery and enjoy the amazing scenery that envelops the highest peak of the world and others. The calm surroundings are all beyond your own imagination.

Day 7: Trek to Dingboche 

You venture to Dingboche covering excellent views of majestic mountains and tiny Sherpa settlements. The majestic road of the grand Himalayas determines the senses with deep terrain and endless sceneries.

Day 8: Acclimatization Day in Dingboche  

Another day for acclimatization at Dingboche. Go for hikes, travel to lookout points, and be a part of the Sherpa community, all of which will help you understand the yak herders’ traditions and culture.

Day 9: Trek to Lobuche 

The path takes you along the steep rocks all the way up to Lobuche, which presents a spectacle of snow capped peaks and glacial moraines on the way. The breathtaking landscapes of nature dwarf your human existence and will leave you feeling in awe of nature’s biggest splendors.

Day 10: Trek to Gorak Shep and Everest Base Camp  

On the way to Gorak Shep you trek to Everest Base Camp. This place is unbelievable where you see rocks and ice and this place is below the highest peak in the world, that is Everest. You feel like standing on the roof of the planet, and you realize how it actually feels to be at this spot.

Day 11: Hike to Kala Patthar and Trek to Pheriche 

An early morning trek to the heights of Kala Patthar will leave you breathless as you witness the magnificent dawn of Everest and other glorious mountains. You get to Pheriche, the place is abound with the marvelous Himalayan scenery.

Day 12: Trek to Namche Bazaar 

You go ever further as in Namche Bazaar you follow the steep trails which look like a familiar one. A mixed bag of feelings takes over as the memories of the hike begin to flash in your mind and you contemplate the journey’s achievements alongside the fellow trekkers

Day 13: Trek to Lukla 

Lukla, place of the start of our trekking journey, is now where we are returning. You know that your feelings and thoughts will never be the same as what you felt and saw during that magnificent travel across the Himalayas.

Day 14: Flight to Kathmandu  

A beautiful flight back to Kathmandu during the evening will inspire you to recall the memories of this incredible journey which you can share over dinner with your new travel companions, recounting your stories and having a good time together.

Day 15: Rest Day and shopping around Kathmandu.

Day 16: Departure from Kathmandu
