The Langtang Valley trek is one of the shorter hiking routes in Nepal, offering incredible scenery, from jungle landscapes with banana trees and monkeys at lower altitudes to glaciers and ice peaks at higher elevations. It can be done as a standalone trek, combined with the Tamang Heritage trek, or as an acclimatization trek before tackling longer and more challenging routes like the Everest Base Camp or Annapurna Circuit treks.

Best time to visit
There are two main trekking seasons: March, April, and October, November. I would advise trying to trek during these months and avoiding the wet season in the middle of the year. The dry winter can make for quieter trails, but many tea houses may shut down, and trails may be covered in snow at higher elevations.
Gosainkunda Trek
Gosainkunda in Nepal is the highest point of Rasuwa District in the Bagmati Province (4,380 m or 14,370 ft). Gosainkunda is sacred to Lord Shiva and is home to an alpine freshwater lake, with several other lakes surrounding it in the rising terrain of Langtang.
Attraction
- Explore countless lakes at high elevations, including the holy lake Gosaikunda, all holding alpine freshwater.
- An opportunity to experience unique natural, cultural, and religious aspects simultaneously.
- View stunning mountain ranges and peaks, including Himal Chuli (7,893 m), along with the Mt. Langtang range and Ganesh Himal range.
Brief Itinerary
In fact, the Gosaikunda trek can be accessed from Dhunche village or Syabrubesi in the Langtang Himal, and also via Sundarijal in the Kathmandu Valley. Starting from Dhunche village, the well-developed trail passes through Chandanbari (3,200 m / 10,500 ft), Daurebinayak (3,700 m / 12,100 ft), and leads to Gosaikunda (4,380 m / 14,370 ft). Similarly, starting from the Kathmandu Valley, the developed trail passes through Chisapani (2,167 m / 7,110 ft), Tuksang (3,180 m / 10,443 ft), Ghopte (3,340 m / 10,958 ft), and finally reaches Gosaikunda (4,350 m / 14,370 ft). Following the developed path concludes the trek.
Things to Remember
Trekking on these paths doesn’t require special gear, such as ropes, which is one of the reasons people prefer these routes. However, altitude sickness can be a concern when reaching the highest point of the trek, so it is advisable to make stops at the teahouses and rest along the way.
Best time to visit
The weather and temperature are unpredictable at higher altitudes. Usually, March, April, and May are considered the best months for trekking.
