Everest world highest region around high Khumbu valley extending to lower areas of Solu the mid hills of Everest, Mt. Everest is also known as the 3rd Pole due to its cold and freezing arctic zone nature, Everest is known by local name Sagarmatha to Nepalese and Chomolungma in Sherpa and Tibetan both languages means “Great Mother”.
Mt. Everest at 8,848 m / 29,028 ft high stands as world highest mountains since the conquest of Mt. Everest in May 29th 1953 by late legendry Tenzing Sherpa and Edmund Hillary, the mountain has been the landmark of Himalaya and for adventurer, mountaineers and trekkers.
Everest region offers wide range of trekking and other adventure destinations from soft-moderate walk of a week to famous Thyangboche Monastery, to 2 weeks walk at Base Camp with a climb of high hills of Kalapathar at 5,545 m high with grand views of high mountains and Everest at close distance.
Another beautiful trek is to Gokyo valley and its pristine glacial lakes with wonderful views and hike to Gokyo Ri which offers four world highest peaks from Mt. Everest-Lhotse-Makalu to Cho-Oyu.
Everest region provides incredible trekking destination with short flights from Kathmandu to Lukla or walking from Jiri on the old classic trail to Everest, the other routes taking from east of Arun Valley and the hardest and adventurous route from Rolwaling Valley crossing a high pass Tashi-Labtsa pass.
