Classic Annapurna Circuit Trek

Introduction

White Hill Adventure Treks & Expedition welcomes you to join our most fascinating adventure Around Manaslu Trek. This beautiful panoramic trek is listed as one of the best world top 10 trekking destinations by “Lonely Planet” and other travel magazines. Classic Annapurna Circuit Trek begins with an interesting drive to the Lamjung area and then enters Manang areas at Dharapani village where this wonderful trekking begins. The walk follows Marshyangdi River upstream all the way near Manang village, at Manang with rest day for acclimatization and short walks exploring villages of Tibetan Buddhist culture and its old monastery.

After a wonderful rest at Manang, the Annapurna circuit trekking heads higher to the wild country to cross over high Thorang-la pass at 5,416 m which is the highest point of this adventure. From here, we descend toward the world deepest gorge of Kaligandaki River valley, after walking past holy Muktinath, and then towards Jomsom town and then through lovely apple-growing villages of Marpha and Tukcuche. After an enjoyable time, the walk leads at Tatopani village with hot spring, from here with the last final climb to famous and scenic Ghorepani village and Poon Hill which is a popular spot for stunning sunrise view over the range of mountains from Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, and Annapurna to Manaslu range.

The trek leads into the lovely forest of rhododendron surrounding, then this marvelous adventure – Annapurna Circuit Trek concludes with a drive to famous and charming Pokhara, where peaks of Annapurna reflects on its pristine Phewa / Begnas Lakes. From here, this wonderful adventure completes with a drive back to Kathmandu after a memorable moment in the high mountains with great service of White Hill Adventure Treks & Expedition.

Outline Itinerary

Day 01:  Arrive in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
Day 02:  In Kathmandu with a sightseeing tour at places of interest.
Day 03:  Drive to Dharapani 1,920 m via Jagat 1,290 m and Besishar 800 m – 08 hrs.
Day 04:  Trek to Chame 2,670 m – 05 hours.
Day 05:  Trek to Pisang 3, 230 m – 05 hrs.
Day 06:  Trek to Manang Village 3,450 m – 05 hrs.
Day 07:  Rest day at Manang for local hikes and acclimatization.
Day 08:  Trek to Yak Kharka 4,110 m – 04 hours.
Day 09:  Trek to Thorong High Camp 4,600 m – 04 hrs.
Day 10:  Cross Thorong-La 5,416 m and to Muktinath 3,800 m – 07 hrs.
Day 11:  Trek to Marpha 2, 670 via Jomsom 2, 715 m – 06 hours.
Day 12:  Trek to Lete 2,480m – 06 hrs.
Day 13:  Trek to Tatopani 1,190m – 06 hrs.
Day 14:  Trek to Ghorepani 2,750 m – 06 hrs.
Day 15:  Trek to Tirkhedhunga 1,500m -05 hours walk.
Day 16:  Trek to Nayapul 1,100m and drive to Pokhara 860m.
Day 17:  Drive or fly back to Kathmandu.
Day 18:  International departure for homeward bound.

Detail Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

On reaching Kathmandu international airport where White Hill Adventure Treks & Expedition staff will receive and then transfer you to respective hotels around Kathmandu city. After getting refreshed from the flight our guide brief you with information on the hotel, Kathmandu and Around Annapurna Trekking.

Day 02: Sightseeing tour and trek preparation.

Morning our city guide meet for a sightseeing tour at places of interest as Kathmandu valley full of world heritage sites, temples, monasteries, old king’s palaces after an interesting tour back to the hotel, preparation for the trek Around Annapurna trekking.

Day 03: Drive to Dharapani 1,920 m via Jagat 1,290 m and Beshishar 800 m - 08 hrs.

Morning with interesting and scenic long drive towards Nepal mid west, journey leads to Beshishar town then on the dirt road to Khudi, Bhulbhule and Ngadi following the Marsyangdi River upstream, drive continues through rice terraces fields and villages to Syange, from here with a slow climb to Jagat village, a farm village with many lodges for trekkers. From Jagat village drive leads for another hour to reach Dharapani village for an overnight stop, Dharapani a nice village situated on the junction of the Annapurna circuit and Manaslu trekking trail.

Day 04: Trek to Chame 2,670 m - 05 hours.

Starting the first day walk from Dharapani along winding trail into rhododendron and pine forest passing villages of Bagachap and Danque to Timang village from here onwards into more Buddhist culture, with views of Mt. Manaslu 8,163m / 26,781ft, from Timang village few hours trek to Koto and then to Chame town for an overnight stop. Chame a major and headquarter town of the Manang area.

Day 05: Trek to Pisang 3, 230 m - 05 hrs.

From here air gets cooler as walk leads close to mountains through alpine forests of rhododendron and pine trees, following Marshyangdi River upstream with few ups and down hills to Bhratang village. From Bhratang village walk uphill through woodland to Dhukure Pokhari, a small place with teahouses and lodge with views of Chulu and Pisang peak, after lunch descends to lower Pisang village for an overnight stop.

Day 06: Trek to Manang Village 3,450 m - 05 hrs.

Pisang village offers great views of mountains, from here altitude gains leading through the forest with a short climb with views of Annapurna II and III, Gangapurna Chulu’s and Pisang peak. Walking on the flat valley to Hongde village, from here onward tree lines disappear for barren and arid landscapes with cold, dry arctic climate. Before Manang, visit old Braga monastery with old Buddhist relics, ancient wall painting, and frescos and stunning views of Annapurna Himalaya, from here an hour walk reaches Manang village.

Day 07: Rest day at Manang for local hikes and acclimatization.

An important and necessary rest day to get acclimatize before heading higher elevation and to Thorang-La pass, in Manang short hike and explore Manang village and valley, Manang a large village situated on windswept valley at the bank of Marsyangdi River beneath Annapurna and Gangapurna mountain range, a nice walk uphill for views of Gangapurna Glacier and the Manang emerald Lake.

Day 08: Trek to Yak Kharka 4,110 m -04 hours.

After a good rest at Manang, walk leads towards Ghunsang village with uphill to Yak Kharka, an interesting high altitude trekking with super views of snowcapped mountains, then crossing a small stream river to reach Yak Kharka, a small settlement with tremendous views of Gangapurna, Annapurna III and Chulu Peaks.

Day 09: Trek to Thorong High Camp 4,600 m - 04 hrs.

Morning walk advances around high area, heading closer to the base of Thorang-la as the walk leads to cross a bridge and then a climb along the riverbank of Jarjung, as the walk leads at Thorung Phedi, here depending upon the physical conditions of the clients if all goes well an hour steep climb to Thorang High Camp for overnight stop.

Day 10:  Cross Thorong-La 5,416 m and to Muktinath 3,800 m - 07 hrs.

Big Day! the highlight of this great adventure, after an early breakfast walk, leads to a long climb up to Thorang-la with a steep terrain and winding path to Thorung La Pass at 5,416 m / 17,700 ft. The highest point of this adventure offering super views of snowcapped peaks, and then a long descent to Muktinath at 3,800 m. On reaching Muktinath for an overnight stop, a holy place for both Hindus and Buddhists the word Muktinath literally means ‘the place for Nirvana or Liberation’.

Day 11: Trek to Marpha 2, 670 via Jomsom 2, 715 m - 06 hours.

After Muktinath, walking is much easier on moderate trails all the way with a big drop of 1,200m to Kaligandaki river valley, this pleasant walk leads to Kaligandaki river valley.  Morning walk reaching Jomsom, headquarter town of Mustang region with a small airstrip above Kaligandaki River. After a stop at Jomsom a gradual walk to Marpha, a little gem with white painted houses, neat streets and well-kept lodges. This place famous for apples and its products like cider, brandy, and juice.

Day 12: Trek to Lete 2,480m - 06 hrs.

From Marpha following Kaligandaki river downstream, reaching Tukuche village, and the walk to Larjung village, crossing high suspension bridge and then back into forested area of pines, oaks, and rhododendron to reaching a nice Kalapani village, after a short stop walk to another lovely village with grand views of Mt. Annapurna I, Nilgiris and Dhaulagiri, a short downhill brings at Lete village for overnight stop.

Day 13: Trek to Tatopani 1,190m - 06 hrs.

Walk from Kalapani and Lete leads to dramatic change landscapes and temperature, as the walk leads between two giant peaks of Dhaulagiri and the Annapurna forming world deepest gorge. The first two hours of trek through Ghasa, a southern end of Mustang district dominated by Thakali people with fewer of this ethnic tribe till Tatopani, the walk continues into a warm sub-tropical climate all the way to the village of Tatopani passing through cascading Rupsi waterfalls. At Tatopani (Hot Spring) village with sub-tropic climate and vegetation, Tatopani is another nice village with large hot spring pools just by the bank of the River Kaligandaki.

Day 14: Trek to Ghorepani 2,750 m - 06 hrs.

After a wonderful time at Tatopani, walk follows the river for a while and then diverts heading uphill through farms villages to reach at Chitre, from here an hour climb brings at Ghorepani village with superb views of Mt. Dhaulagiri and Annapurna South including Vara-Shikar or Annapurna Fang, Ghorepani located below Pun Hill offering super views of world’s highest mountains with beautiful sunrise and sunset.

Day 15: Trek to Tirkhedhunga 1,500m -  05 hours.

Morning an hour hike to Pun-Hill at 3,210m for sunrise views over the range of mountains from Mt. Dhaulagiri, Mt. Manaslu to Annapurna and beyond Ganesh Himal including Mt. Machhapuchare “The Fish Tail”. Trek continues on the gradual trail for a short period, and then a long descend from Ulleri village all the way to Tirkhedhunga for the last overnight stop around the hills of Annapurna Himalaya.

Day 16: Trek to Nayapul 1,100 m and drive to Pokhara 860 m.

From Tirkhedhunga, the last day's walk of this adventure leads downhill most of the way to reach at Bhirethati by the river Modi, from here a short trek to Nayapul, where this wonderful walk of this adventure ends. From here two hours drive to picturesque Pokhara for overnight stop by the Lake Phewa.

Day 17: Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu.

From Pokhara drive to Kathmandu, after a wonderful trip around Annapurna, on reaching Kathmandu transfer to hotels.

Day 18: International departure for homeward bound.
