Amphu Laptsa Pass Trek -13 Days, an amazing adventure that takes you to hidden areas of high Khumbu valley and mountains towards eastern areas and south of Everest.

Amphu laptsa Pass of 13 days will be a great journey walking around remote and isolated corners of the Everest region and close to Baruntse mountains that leads you to scenic Imjatse valley on crossing Amphulaptsa Pass located above 6,461 m and 21,907 ft.

Traverse from Inkhu-Hongu valley towards Imjatse wide valley near Island Peak to reach back at Lukla with a tough circuit trekking, where one feels more of mountaineering than normal walks.

Amphu laptsa pass trek-16 days begins with an exciting short flight from Kathmandu to reach at Sherpa town in Lukla, the door to many adventures around the Everest region, where our walk leads beyond town and villages into serene woodland.

As journey progress with full camping gear as this adventure leads to the unknown country away from main-stream trekking trails, where few adventurer-trekkers and climbers often venture this wilderness of arid and dry terrain.

The adventure leads to cross over Zatwar-la pass within the ridges of Kalo and Naulekh Himal to reach within beautiful forested areas around Inkhu valley and heading towards Mera Peak base camp and over Mera-la pass to enter into Hongu valley nearby Panch Pokhari.

Where route of Baruntse-Sherpani (Makalu West Col) joins at this junction for high traverse and crossing over Amphu Laptsa Pass trek, before heading towards Amphu Laptsa where rest day will be set to get acclimatize with the high altitude.

Preparations and good health are equally important to cross this high pass which leads to some mountaineering climbing technique in some sections of the pass and at descend.

Our guides will make necessary arrangements for safe and secure crossing starting early morning to tackle the tough and high elevation Amphu Laptsa pass then reaching into a wide scenic Imjatse valley close to Island peak and then in the comfort of a nice cozy lodge on reaching the main trails of Everest areas.

After a great hard and exciting thrill over Amphu Laptsa Pass rest of the journey leads to easy gradual walks with short ups with much downhill past Pangboche to scenic spot at Tengboche and its lively monastery then heading towards famous Namche Bazaar before completing the adventure walk at Lukla.

At Lukla, our great amazing adventure of remarkable experience completes with the flight back to Kathmandu on concluding wonderful Amphu Laptsa Pass trek-13 Days adventure.

Outline Itinerary of Amphu Laptsa Pass Trek

Day 01: Kathmandu (Tribhuvan Int´l Airport) to Lukla (Tenzing Hillary Airport) early morning 30 minutes scenic flight then Trek to Chutanga (3,020 meters/ 9980 feet) – 4/5 hours.
Day 02: Trek to ThuliKharka (4300 meter/14,107 feet) – 5/6 hours.
Day 03: Trek to Thangnak (4,356 meters/ 14291 feet) – 5/6 hours.
Day 04: Trek to Khare (5,045 meters/16551 feet) – 3/4 hours.
Day 05: Acclimatization day in Khare and Pre-Climbing Training and become familiar with using crampons, Carabiners, figure eight, rope Ice Axe, etc.
Day 06:Trek to KongmeDingma (4,850 meters/ 15912) – 5/6 hours.
Day 07: Trek to SetoPokhari (5035 meters/17,503 feet) – 5/6 hours.
Day 08: Trek to Amphu Lapcha Base Camp South (5,650 meters/ 18,536 feet) – 5/6 hours.
Day 09: Trek to Chhukung (4,750 meters/ 15,580 feet) via  Amphu Lapcha pass (6,461 meters/ 21,907 feet)- 9/10 hours.
Day 10: Trek  down to Tengboche Monastery (3860 meters/12665 feet)-4/5 hours
Day 11: Trek down to Namche Bazar (3,440 meter/11,287 feet)- 4/ 5 hours.
Day 12: Trek Down to Lukla (2,860meter/ 9,383 feet)-6/7 hours.
Day 13: Lukla (Tenzinghilliarry Airport) to Kathmandu (Tribhuvan Int´l Airport) fly back.

Detail Itinerary

Day 01: Kathmandu (Tribhuvan Int´l Airport) to Lukla (Tenzing- Hillary Airport) morning 30 minutes scenic flight, trek to Chutanga 3,020 m/ 9,980 ft - 04/5 hrs.

Early morning after breakfast depart for short panoramic flight to land at Lukla, in Lukla with time to get organized where the first-day walk begins towards a small place at Chutanga for overnight camp.

As walk leads past few smaller farmhouses enjoy great scenery of hills and valleys and then finally walk ends at Chutanga.

Chutanga a place with green pastureland surrounded by pine and rhododendron trees, with time for rest in the afternoon checking your gear and getting ready for further walks towards Inkhu and Hongu valley.

Day 02: Trek to Thuli Kharka (4300 meter/14,107 feet) - 5/6 hours.

After a nice overnight stop in Chutanga, morning walk leads to a long and steep climb to cross over Kalo Himal Ridge also known as Nau-Lekh a rocky ridge that separates the Khumbu area and Inkhu Valley with western Makalu region.

The adventure takes over the first pass of a steep climb and then at Zatrwa Og, and Zatrwa-La passes above 4,600 ms, with views of Dudh Kosi river valley and of Karyolung and Lumding Himal, from here downhill to Tuli-Kharka for overnight camp within Inkhu valley.

Day 03: Trek to Thangnak 4,356 m/ 14,291 ft-05/6 hrs.

From Tuli-Kharka, head downhill with a view of Peak 43 and Kusum Kanguru peaks, and then reach the scenic valley around Inkhu area, with stunning views of Mera Peak.

Wal continues into rhododendron and pine forest, with a gradual walk through the serene forest to reach Mousom Kharka near Inkhu Drangka River.

After Mousum Kharka walk continue towards north on leaving forest then reaching a wide-open valley within a pasture having Yak herder huts to reach Gondishung close to Thangnak area, a place with small wooden huts and shelters of stone wall enclosures. Gondishung with a small 200-year-old small Gompa (monastery shrine), from here the walk continues for another hour to our overnight camp at Thangnak,
a small yak herder’s settlement with few tea houses and small lodges.

Day 04: Trek to Khare (5,045 meters/16551 feet) - 3/4 hours.

From Thangnak, morning starts with moderate day walk for few hours with scenic views around Inkhu valley, as trek follows moderate trail crossing over a moraine that dams Charpatti Tal (lake), and then leading to a high area lined with cairns overlooking glacial lake, where climb leads with short descend at Dig Kharka, from here walking for an hour across the boulder-strewn hillside, to overnight camp at Khare.

Day 05: Acclimatization day in Khare and Pre-Climbing training and become familiar using crampons, Carabiners, figure eight, rope Ice-Axe, etc.

Rest day at Khare which is also a base camp for Mera Peak, where one can practice the art of climb on rocks and ice close to camp, getting familiar with your gear using a crampons-ice ax and how to make fix ropes.

Day 06: Trek to Kongme Dingma 4,850 m/ 15,912- 5/6 hrs.

Morning leads to climb over Mera Glacier, leading straight on an ice sections, as route leads towards great scenery along the way to reach remote dry areas at Kongme Dingma for overnight camp before heading towards Hongu valley via Mera-la pass.

Day 07: Trek to Seto Pokhari 5,035 m/17,503 ft- 05/6 hrs.

Walk follows to gradual climb, then heading a steep on moraine and rocky glacier, then leading towards an old and more recent moraine deposits, and then reaching a wonderful place at Seto Pokhari means white ponds includes five ponds around, where our camp is set for overnight at above 5,035 m high.

Day 08: Trek to Amphu Lapcha Base Camp South 5,650 m / 18,536 ft- 05/6 hrs.

From this isolated and wild area of Seto, Pokhari morning leads to gradual walks with a short steep climb over the moraine and rocky terrain, encountering some ice sections from the frozen small streams to reach the base of Amphulapchha for overnight camp.

Afternoon rest for preparation traversing high pass next early morning on this day our expert guides will check the possible route to cross over Amphulapcha, as well as fixing ropes were necessary for safe descents toward Imjatse Valley.

Day 09: Trek to Chhukung 4,750 m/ 15,580 ft via Amphulaptsa pass 6,461 m/ 21,907 ft- 9/10 hrs.

A Big Day of this great journey and adventure which is quite tough similar to some peak climbing, start the climb early morning where steep climb leads for few hours all the way to the top of the pass, where you can enjoy super views of surrounding peaks with Imjatse valley.

After a hard long climb on top Amphulaptsa pass, where all staff and porters will descend first using fix ropes bailing to safe level ground, and then continue for long descend to reach past snow and ice sections.

At the bottom where few hour walks takes you by the side of Imjatse Glacier, where Imja-Tse valley starts from a place called Parsya Gyab near Island Peak Base Camp, after a great adventure crossing high Amphulapccha pass, walk leads for few hours with short climb over moraine to reach at Chukhung for overnight stop in warm comfort in a lodge.

Day 10: Trek to Tengboche Monastery 3,860 m/12,665 ft-4/5  hours.

After Chhukung, morning walk leads to easy gradual path at Dingboche located at the end of Imjatse valley, from Dingboche with views of Amadablam, Nuptse, and Lhotse, as walk leads downhill to low elevation back into tree lines, as walk leads past Pangboche reaching a bridge where an hour climb brings you at scenic Tengboche Monastery with amazing scenery that surrounds this lovely place for overnight stop.

Day 11: Trek down to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m/11,287 ft - 04/ 5 hours.

Morning walk starts with long easy descend to Imjatse River and then cross a bridge with a climb for short-while to reach a gentle and winding wide path to Namche Bazaar, with afternoon free to enjoy time around Namche visiting shops and stores full of restaurants and bakeries.

 from Namche on the downhill path to Dudh Kosi Riverbank, from here with short ups and downs to reach the Sagarmatha National Park entrance and then Monjo village for an overnight stop in this quaint nice village.

Day 12:  Trek to Lukla 2,860 m/ 9,383 ft-06/7 hrs.

After a great most exciting adventure on Mera and over Amphulapccha-La pass, our last day walk takes you back at Lukla on a gentle winding trail with downhill to reach at Monjo unto Phakding with last final climb for an hour to Lukla for overnight stop, evening with last dinner around Khumbu area with staff and guides including porters.

 Day 13: Lukla (Tenzing-Hillary Airport) to Kathmandu (Tribhuvan Int´l Airport) fly back.

Starting early morning to catch a flight back to Kathmandu from Lukla, (where the flight can get delayed sometimes due to unfavorable weather conditions), after getting in small plane fly high to Kathmandu.

On reaching Katmandu airport where a short drive takes you back to your hotel around city.
