Nar & Phu trekking begins with an interesting drive around mid hills and then starting the trek to high Manang valley through nice villages of Jagat, Dharapani and finally to hidden areas of Nar & Phu villages, hidden beyond Annapurna and Damodar mountain range.After visiting Nar & Phu interesting villages with old monasteries crossing Kang-la pass to reach Manang valley back at popular Annapurna circuit route and over another high pass of Thorang-la pass at 5,416 m to Jomsom town via holy Muktinath to complete this amazing Nar & Phu Trekking at Jomsom, headquarter town of Mustang area.Next morning a short flight brings you to popular tourist city in Pokhara famous for views of Annapurna Mountains with beautiful Phewa and Begnas Lakes.

From Pokhara drive back to Kathmandu, after a grand adventure around Nar & Phu trek and great service of White Hill Adventure Treks & Expeditions.

Outline Itinerary:

Day 01:           Arrive in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
Day 02:           In Kathmandu with sightseeing tour at places of interest.
Day 03:           Drive to Dharapani 1,920 m via Jagat 1,290 m and Besishar 800 m – 08 hrs.
Day 04:           Trek to Kotto 2,670m – 05 hours.
Day 05:           Trek to Dharmasala 3,230 m – 05 hours.
Day 06:           Trek to Kyang 3, 020 m – 05 hours.
Day 07:           Trek to Phu village 4,080 m – 06hours.
Day 08:           Rest day at Phu village to explore Phu Valley.
Day 09:           Trek to Nar Phedi 3, 545 m – 06 hrs.
Day 10:           Trek to Nar gaon 4,206 m – 06 hrs.
Day 11:           Trek to Kang La Base Camp 4,530 m – 05 hrs.

Day 16:           Trek to Jomsom 2,716 m – 04 hrs.
Day 17:           Fly to Pokhara 820 m and transfer to respective hotels.
Day 18:           Drive to Kathmandu 1,350 m and transfer to hotel.
Day 19:           International departure for home ward bound.

Necessary Documents:

  • Valid passport.
  • Two passport side pictures.
  • Separate photocopies of your passport with valid Nepali visa.
  • Proof of insurance dollars, pound, and euro currency in cash for purchasing Nepali visa at Kathmandu airport.

Day 01:           Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
On reaching at Kathmandu international airport where White Hill Adventure Treks & Expedition staff will receive and then transfer you to respective hotels around Kathmandu city.

After getting refresh from the flight our guide brief you with information of hotel, Kathmandu and Nar & Phu Trekking.

Day 02:           Sightseeing tour and trek preparation.
Morning our city guide meet for sightseeing tour at places of interest as Kathmandu valley full of world heritage sites, temples, monasteries, old king’s palaces after an interesting tour back to hotel, preparation for the trek to Nar & Phu trekking.

Day 03:           Drive to Dharapani 1,920 m via Jagat 1,290 m and Beshishar 800 m – 08 hrs.

Morning with interesting and scenic long drive towards Nepal mid west, journey leads to Beshishar town then on the dirt road to Khudi, Bhulbhule and Ngadi following the Marsyangdi River upstream, drive continues through rice terraces fields and villages to Syange, from here with a slow climb to Jagat village, a farm village with many lodges for trekkers.

From Jagat village drive leads for another hour to reach at Dharapani village for overnight stop, Dharapani a nice village situated on the junction of Annapurna circuit and Manaslu trekking trail.

Day 04:           Trek to Koto 2,670 m – 05 hours.
Morning first day walk leads to Koto village near Chame town (headquarter of Manang district), on a gradual up, following river Marsyangdi upstream passing number of villages of Bagachap, Danque, Ratmanang and Koto, leading through beautiful pines and rhododendron forested area with views of Annapurna II, Lamjung Himal and if Manaslu mountains, on reaching at Koto transfer to a nice lodges after a great day of trekking.

Day 05:       Trek to Dharmasala 3,230m – 05 hours.
Morning leaving the main Annapurna Circuit trail, heading to Nar & Phu, trekking into narrow gorge valley in between great walls of high rock cliffs and entering a cool alpine woodlands of pine and rhododendron trees, and then through farm huts and sheds and in a gorge, the walk leads Nar-Phu khola upstream passing remote area through number of scattered small farm houses at Dharmashala for overnight stay.

Day 06:       Trek to Kyang 4,100 m – 6 hrs.

After a pleasant stop at Dharmasala, walk continues towards higher area, leading beyond north towards Phu region in complete wilderness with chances of seeing some wildlife the rare blue sheep and snow leopards with other animals, walk passes several cattle herder’s shades and huts to reach at Kyang for overnight stop.


Day 07:           Trek to Phu village 4,080 m – 06 hours.

From Kyang village, morning walk to Phu valley and in the main Phu village, in one of the highlight of this trip, as the walk continues towards Phu Khola upstream and descend to a river walking along the river banks, on leaving the river leading uphill into a wide glacial valley and at Phu village for overnight stop.

Day 08:       Rest at Phu village and explore Phu Valley
A necessary rest day with acclimatization at this high altitude, before reaching higher altitude at Kangla and Thorang la passes, hike around this interesting villages of Tashilkhang and Samdu Choling Monastery with Kyauchyu water fall, people of Nar / Phu villages has years of strong Tibetan influence with Tibetan lifestyle its rich traditions and culture.
Day 09:           Trek to Nar Phedi 3,545 m – 06 hrs.

From Phu, walk heads towards Nar village after an interesting and fascinating time at Phu and friendly locals, our route retrace back the same trail with a descend to a narrow gorge, and then the walk leads downstream at Phu khola, into smaller villages with Buddhist mani walls and chortens, then finally heading towards a flat ground of Nar Phedi for overnight stop.


Day 10:           Trek to Nar Gaon 4,206 m – 06 hrs.

Today trek leads to last village at Nar Gaon, from Nar Phedi walk continues towards Phu Kola, and then reaching a suspension bridge over Phu Khola (stream), from the bridge a steep uphill climb to reach a ridge for an hour and with a gentle path for few hours to reach at Nar village for overnight stop.


Day 11:           Trek to Kang La Base Camp 4,530 m – 05 hrs.

Morning walk continues after Naar village, leading away from village area into a small woodland of firs and pine trees, after leaving tree lines towards arid and windswept terrain, walk slowly due to high altitude and then reaching at Temdenzon khola, carry on for another few hours on a nice path to reach at the base of Kang la pass, which is at 4,530 meters for overnight stop if there’s no accommodation with lodge facilities it will be in tents on a flat grassy field.
Day 12:           Cross Kangla Pass 5,322m trek to Ngawal 3,650 m – 07 hrs.

Early morning start to cross over first pass of this adventure with views of Pisang Peak and Chulu Far East Peak, then crossing a stream then it leads to uphill walk towards top of Kangla pass at 5,322 meters, the top of Kangla Pass offers fantastic views of scenic country-scapes including Annapurna range, Chulu Peaks, Lamjung Himal and several peaks of North West Himalayan range, after a marveling the views, walk descend to Julu village and then reaching at Ngawal village for overnight stop.

Day 13:           Trek to Manang 3,450 m – 04 hrs.

Morning walk to Manang valley on reaching at Humde around Manang valley one of the large village with an airstrip, from here a scenic walk brings to Manang village passing Braga village with has an old monastery, visit the Braga monastery with impressive views of Annapurna’s mountain range, and then an hour walk to Manang village for overnight stop.

Day 14:           Trek to Thorong High Camp 4,600 m – 04 hrs.
Morning walk advances around high area, heading closer to the base of Thorang-la as the walk leads to cross a bridge and then a climb along the river bank, walk leads at Thorung Phedi, here depending upon physical conditions of clients, if all goes well an hour steep climb to Thorang High Camp for overnight stop.
Day 15:           Cross Thorong-La 5,416 m and to Muktinath 3,800 m – 07 hrs.

Another highlight of this great adventure, after an early breakfast walk leads to a long climb up to Thorang-la with a steep terrain and winding path to Thorung La Pass at 5,416 m / 17,700 ft.

The highest point of this adventure offering super views of snowcapped peaks, and then a long descend to Muktinath at 3,800 m.

On reaching Muktinath for overnight stop, a holy place for both Hindus and Buddhists the word Muktinath literally means ‘the place for Nirvana or Liberation’.

Day 16:           Trek to Jomsom 2, 715 m – 04 hours.

After Muktinath rest of the journey will be easier with moderate walks all the way to Jomsom as the walk drops to 1,200m downhill to Kaligandaki river valley, this pleasant trail reaching the vast Kaligandaki river valley with a small break at Ekalebhatti.
From here gets windy in the afternoon time, a few hours walk to Jomsom, headquarter of Mustang region with an airstrip located above Kaligandaki River.

Here at Jomsom with last night in the mountain village, celebrate with local apple products like cider, brandy and juice this area from Kagbeni to Marpha & Larjung famous for delicious apple and its product.

Day 17:           Fly from Jomsom to Pokhara 860 m – 20 mins flight.
Early morning transfer to Jomsom airport for sweeping short flight of 25 minutes to Pokhara, during airborne spectacular views of Dhaulagiri, Nilgiris and Annapurna range of mountains with rolling hills dotted with farm villages,

On reaching Pokhara airport transfer to respective hotels by the serene lake Phewa, afternoon free for individual activities or just relax and enjoy the views of the Annapurna Himalaya.

Day 18:           Drive or fly back to Kathmandu.
From Pokhara drive to Kathmandu, after a wonderful trip to Nar & Phu, on reaching Kathmandu transfer to your hotels. (by air options from Pokhara 30 minutes of scenic flight to Kathmandu)

Day 19:           International departure for home ward bound.
After a memorable and great adventure in Nepal with Nar & Phu Trekking and great services of White Hills Hill Adventure Treks & Expedition guides, our staff transfers you for final departure homeward bound flights.

Equipments and clothes:

-Down jackets and sleeping bags(-10 to -15 degrees f.), Trekking boots or sports shoes, one pair of trekking pools, camera, water bottle, warm hates that covers yours ears, cap, sun glass, sun cream, half sleeve t-shirt, long sleeve t-shirt, thermal tops, water proof jacket/pullovep, gore-tex jacket with wool, one pair of lightweight wool gloves, one pair of trousers, one pair of fleece or woolen tousers, one pair of waterproof shell paints, two/three pairs of thin, light, inner shocks, two pairs of heavy poly socks, wto pairs of under wears etc… and more for girls(bra, scarf, pashmina shawl, Nek up thing etc. )
