White Hill Adventure Treks & Expedition offers an adventurous destination to Makalu & Everest Camp trekking, in complete wilderness of high hills and mountains beneath towering world 5th highest Mt. Makalu at 8,486 meters high and at world highest Everest base at 5,367m.

An adventure of lifetime experience where you will be enclosed within giant peaks for a week in complete wilderness at Makalu & Everest Base Camp as this trek leads from warm sub-tropic temperature to alpine and arctic climatic zone.

Starting this adventure with a scenic flight to Tumlingtar, a moderate size town located on a shelf of Arun River; from here adventure leads with a drive to Num village and then beginning the walk passing few farm villages of Seduwa and Tashigaon.

Trek leads to over the pass of Kongm-la and Tutu-la pass at 4,075 m to reach a beautiful Barun valley well hidden enclosed within high hills and mountains, and then reaching at Makalu base camp our main destination and highlight of the adventure.

After an enjoyable time at base camp with incredible views of towering Makalu, Baruntse and as far to Everest, Lhotse including rare Kangshung (East) Face of Everest, our adventure continues to our next destination to Everest on crossing high Sherpani or Makalu West Col totally one of the most adventurous trekking in all Himalaya region in complete wilderness closed with high snow peaks.

Adventure heads towards Hinku valley to cross another high Amphu pass to reach Imjate valley at Khumbu and Everest region.

From here on the main trail to Everest Base Camp enjoying the views of Khumbu Ice falls and glaciers and climb of Kalapathar hill top for super views of Everest at the closest, and then heading into lovely forested area of pines and rhododendron forest downhill to Lukla for sweeping flight back to Kathmandu with excellent service of White Hill Adventure Treks & Expedition.

Day 01:         Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
On reaching Kathmandu international airport where our White Hill Adventure Treks & Expedition staff will receive for a short transfer to respective hotels around Thamel area, tourist hub of Kathmandu.

After getting refresh from the flight our guide brief you with information of hotel, Kathmandu and Makalu and Everest Base Camp Trekking.

Day 02:         Fly to Tumlingtar 950 m – 45 minutes and camp.
Morning fly to Tumlingtar 45 mins of scenic flight with super views of mountains from Ganesh, Langtang Himal, Jugal Himal including the high black rock pyramid Mt. Everest, Makalu & Mt. Kanchenjunga, on arrival at Tumlingtar meet our guide, trekking staff, then walk to Tumlingtar town for overnight stop, a moderate size town located above Arun River of sub-tropical climate with view of Mt. Makalu.

Day 03:         Drive to Num 1, 500m – 03 hrs trek to Sedwa 1,493 m- 04 hrs.
From Tumlingtar start first day walk with an interesting ride on a jeep to Num village in the mid hills of eastern Himalaya, drive passes farm lands and villages reaching Khadbari, the headquarter town of Sankha Saba district and Makalu area, drive carries on the rough dirt road with an uphill to Num village, after few hours of scenic and rough bumpy ride getting organized, starting the first trek of this adventurous trip, with a long descend towards raging Arun River after crossing a short bridge, a steep climb at scattered farm villages of Runruma, with a nice break another 2 hours of gentle climb reaches to Sedua village for the first overnight camp near the primary school yard.

Day 04:         Trek to Tashi- gaon 2,200 m – 04 hours.
After a steep climb of first day, walk is gentle till afternoon time for lunch and camp at Tashigaon, walk on winding path through farm fields and terraces till Tashi gaon a Sherpa village and this will be the last human settlement for a week till return journey after Makalu base camp.

Day 05:         Trek to Kohma Danda 3,500 m – 05 hours.
From Tashi Gaon morning walk leads through thick enchanting forest of rhododendron, pines, oaks and birch tree lines, passing few scattered cattle herders camps with huts and shades on the grazing pasture fields, after a gradual winding for an hour, starting with a steep climb into the forest all the way to the top of Kohma danda ridge, this is taken as a small pass also, overnight on the top where there is few overhanging rocks forming a cave and shelter for porters and local cattle herders, this camp offers awesome views of Kanchenjunga towards far east and Mt. Makalu towards North.

Day 06:         Trek to Mumbuk 3,400 m – 06 hours.
Morning catching the views of mountain panorama, walk continues on the open area passing a glacial pond called Thulo Pokhari and Sano Pokhari, and then crossing a ridge of Tutu-la pass at 4,075 meters and then on the downhill back to tree lines to Mumbuk in the middle of heavily forested area for overnight camp.

Day 07:         Trek to Nehe Kharka 3,750 m – 06 hours.
From this forest camp at Mumbuk, morning walk starts with a descend to Barun Valley this is one of the most beautiful valley of the Himalaya region and unspoiled area, as few trekkers passes this route, Barun vally is famous for rare wildlife, herbs and rare species of plants and vegetation, from Barun area walk leads to a slow climb towards North West to camp at Nehe Kharka, a wide field with grazing area.

Day 08:         Trek to Sherson 4,600 m – 06 hours.
After feeling fresh in this tranquil wilderness of Barun Valley surrounded with high mountains and rock cliffs, today walk leads to our destination to camp at Sherson a mere distance from Makalu base camp, starting the morning trek following the Barun river upstream through patch of short prickly bushes of
Burberry, juniper and dwarf rhododendron with strong aroma of this plants, walk carries with awesome scenery till the walk reaches at Sherson for overnight camp, with stunning views of Mt. Makalu, Baruntse and of unknown Peak 04.

Day 09:         At Sherson rest day for a day hikes.
After days of continues trekking, an important to have rest day here at Sherson perched in the laps of high peaks, here an optional excursion and hike to base camp for more better views where one can view Mt. Everest with its rare east face named as Khangsung East Face including peak of Lhotse the 4th world highest, after a nice day walk around return back to camp at Sherson.

Day 09:         At Sherson for a hike to Makalu base camp 5,120 m.
Here beneath the towering Makalu and Baruntse peaks at 7,220 meters with peak 4. Today a hike in the morning leaving the camp at Sherson for few hours to reach our destination to Makalu base camp with closer view of Mt. Makalu, Barun Pokhari and the view of the rare face of Everest the Kanshung face with Lhotse nearby, an hour of steep up brings you to the large meadow where you can walk further up to have a greater view of the peaks of this area and beyond. After an enjoyable moment with picturesque scenery of mountains that encircles this spot and returning back to camp at Sherson.

Day 10:         Trek to High Makalu Base Camp 4,800 m – 03 hrs.
From here onwards to a real and extreme adventure climbing higher to a remote isolated area towards higher Makalu base camp, after a climb of three hours to Barun glacier snout, near to its glacial pond, and then reaching Makalu high camp on the moraine of rocks and ice, here rest and preparation for the next hard climb.

Day 11:         Trek to High Camp at 5,200 m – 04 hrs.
After a nice rest climb leads westwards beneath the towering Makalu Western Pillar, from this point taking cautiously with the altitude gain on this high area, trek and climb follows to an valley ablation to the west side of glacier from Barun peak, then trekking into a small valley through glacier to make our own trail over the boulder of rocks and ice with strewn ice caves and then setting up the camp, this spot is also called Puja Camp below towering Mt. Makalu’s West Pillar.

Day 12:         Climb to Camp at 5,700 m – 04 hrs.
From here after a good rest, leaving the Puja camp follows a steady hard climb to a rocky ridge line to Barun peak west end, and then a climb to a row of cairns reaching at Sherpani Col a glacial valley for overnight camp and lunch, afternoon preparation for next day crossing of ultimate Sherpani Col pass.

Day 13:         Camp on the Moraine 5,640m after crossing Sherpani Pass.
Today final assault and a big day, starting the journey before dawn heading with flashlights / torch lights,, making our own path to the Sherpani glacier icy snout to reach three individual Col’s providing entrée to the cirque, then choosing the most suitable and reachable routes, climb follows on steep snow covered slope, with fixed ropes back-up, where our expert guide have fixed on the previous afternoon time, from this Col or pass all rope up to get cross the glacier on the rocky ridge of Sherpani West Col. This striking cirque is covered by icy ridges to the north of Baruntse’s glaciers, offering views of Makalu, the wall of Chamlang to the south and majestic towering peak of Ama Dablam in the west direction.

After a hard day of arduous climb descending from the Col on fixed rope lines towards Hongu Glacier, and completing this long day with a good walk over snow slopes beneath the moraines near at Baruntse base camp for overnight camp.

Day 14:         Trek to Panch Pokhari 5,480 m – 05 hrs.
From this isolated camp, morning starts to Panch Pokhari “five ponds” on the foot of Amphu Laptsa pass which is another pass to cross before Imjatse valley at Everest or Khumbu region. As the good walk progress walking on rocky moraines and then reaching a wide area at Upper Hongu Basin close to Kang Leyamura peak at 6,430 meters, and then following a rocky glacier towards a moraine area to reach the campsite beneath Amphu Labtsa pass at 5,780 meters.

Day 15:         Rest day at Panch Pokhari.
A necessary to have rest day after 3-4 days of hard walk and climb on rocks, ice and glaciers, this rest day allows you to regain your energy and strength back while our team of staff and guides will scout the next pass fixing ropes where necessary for the last crossing of this trip.

Day 16:         Cross Amphu Labtsa pass 5, 680m to Imjatse valley at Chukung.
Starting earlier to cross the last high pass of this adrenaline adventure with climb for an hour or more on rocks, moraine and icy slopes to reach the top of Amphu Labtsa offering stunning panorama of Lhotse South Face, Lhotse Shar and of Island / Imja-tse Peak, here a final inspection of the all the members, porters and staff in case of ill health and sickness due to altitude and tiredness which is common at this altitude. From here with rope fixed for safe descent to other side at Imjatse valley, descent of 150 meters on the gradual slopes below the pass. After a nice safe descent walk leads to an ablation valley of Imja glacier, on the Imjatse valley onto Khumbu / Everest area, after all the hard time this will be a pleasant walk to the first small settlement at Chukung for overnight stop in the comfort of nice cozy lodge.

Day 17:         Trek to Lobuche 4,930 m – 05 hrs.

After a pleasant stop at Chukung, after being away from rest of the world and villages, from here trekking in the comfort of nice lodges on route, on gentle trail to Thugla for lunch where Khumbu glacier melts into a raging river, here trail from Pheriche joins after a break a steep climb for an hour to Thulga pass, with stone memorials of unfortunate climbers who died climbing Mt. Everest, Lhotse and other high mountains. From here a nice pleasant walk brings to Lobuche for overnight stop.

 

Day 18:         Trek to Gorak Shep 5,170 m and Everest Base Camp
5,364 m and return to Gorakshep – 06 hrs.

Today walk leads at Everest Base Camp with short steep climb in between over glacier and moraine, reaching Gorakshep, beneath Mt. Pumori and Kalapathar.

Walk continues towards Everest Base Camp, at base camp enjoy the view of notorious Khumbu Ice Fall and glaciers, after fulfilling the dreams of lifetime experience retrace the journey back to Goarkshep for overnight halt.

Day 19:         Hike to Kalapathar 5,545 m trek to Pheriche 4,240m – 05 hrs.
Morning hike on top Kalapathar at 5,545 meters, highest point of this adventure, offering incredible views of mountains including Mt. Everest at close distance, after a great moment return to Gorakshep for breakfast and continue walk to Thugla, and then downhill to Pheriche windy valley after a nice pleasant walk reaching at Pheriche for overnight stop.

 

Day 20:         Trek to Tengboche – 05 hrs.

Return journey is much easier losing heights every hours, walking downhill with few short ups to Pangboche and then to the bridge with two 2 hours climb to Thyangboche for overnight stop.


Day 21:         Trek to Monjo 2,860m – 06 hrs.
From Tengboche descend to Imjatse River, with steep climb for an hour to Sanasa, from here on gradual path with short ups and downs to Namche Bazaar, a break here and then walk back to Dudh Kosi river valley and to Monjo for overnight stop.


Day 22:         Trek to Lukla – 04 hrs.

Morning walk to Phakding from here heading to Lukla with last trekking of this adventure, on reaching Lukla celebrate last night dinner with fellow trekkers and staff.
Day 23:         Fly to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
As per flight time to Kathmandu, for 45 mins of scenic flight with awesome views of mountains during the flight, on arrival in Kathmandu airport transfer to respective hotels after a most amazing adventure in the high mountains at Makalu & Everest Base Camp.

Day 24:         Free day in Kathmandu for individual activities.
A free day in Kathmandu for own individual activities or shopping souvenirs on this day can book for another sightseeing tour in and around Kathmandu valley of Bhaktapur / Patan.

Day 25:         International departure for home ward bound.
After a memorable and great adventure in Nepal and Makalu Camp & Everest Base Camp trekking with great services of White Hills Hill Adventure Treks & Expedition guides, our staff transfers you for final departure homeward bound flights.
