Langtang Valley located in Nepal’s second largest National Park established in 1976 the first Park around Himalaya with an area of 1,710 sq. km. The park consists of enchanting rhododendron-pines-spruce-oak-magnolia to firs forest where rare snow leopard and elusive Red Panda makes homes in this beautiful country.
Langtang Valley & Ganja-la pass to Helambu trekking starts with an interesting and scenic overland drive to Syabrubesi village after Dhunche the headquarter town of Langtang and Rasuwa area as well the entrance of Langtang National Park.
Beginning this wonderful adventure with uphill walk to reach into a gorge with heavily forested area, following the upper Trisuli River Rivers right near to its glacial sources, and slowly the gorge opens up into a wide scenic and beautiful valley at Kyanjin Gompa.
This trek a combination of cultural and scenic walks passing through traditional villages around
famous Tamang Heritage trails to reach our highlights around Langtang valley, here enjoy super views of snowcapped mountains of Ganesh Himal (7,405 m) Langtang Lirung (7,234 m) Ghengu Liru(Langtang II 6571m / 21,560ft), Kimshun (6,745m/22,137ft) and Shalbachum(6,918m / 22,699ft) to the south, the Chimsedang Lekh forms a ridge of peaks which includes Naya-Kanga (5,846m) and Gangchempo, Tilman’s beautiful Fluted Peak. Beyond it extends to the Jugal Himal, terminating in Dorje Lakpa (6,980m/22,929ft). To the east massive mountain wall a frontier of Nepal and Tibet.
After an enjoyable time around Langtang valley our main adventure leads over high Ganja-la pass to reach Helambu village home of the Hyalmo people, one of the few mountain ethnic tribes closely related to Tamang and Sherpa with similar Buddhist culture.
With enjoyable time around lovely villages of Helambu heading downhill to warmer area for the drive back to Kathmandu to concludes this marvelous adventure Langtang Valley & Ganja-la pass to Helambu trekking.
Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
Day 02: In Kathmandu with sightseeing tour and trek preparation.
Day 03: Drive to Syabrubesi 1,440m – 08 hours journey.
Day 04: Trek to Lama Hotel 2,470m – 06 hours.
Day 05: Trek to Langtang Village 3,430m – 06 hours.
Day 06: Trek to Kyanjin Gompa 3,870m- 04 hours.
Day 07: In Kyanjin Gompa rest day for acclimatization with short hike.
Day 08: Trek to Ganja La Phedi 4,300m – 05 hrs
Day 09: Cross Ganja La pass 5,122 m descend to Keldang 4,250m – 07 hrs.
Day 10: Trek to Dukpu 4,080 m – 05 hrs.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
On reaching at Kathmandu international airport where White Hill Adventure Treks & Expedition staff will receive and then transfer you to respective hotels around Kathmandu city. After getting refreshed from the flight our guide briefs you with information of hotel, Kathmandu and Langtang valley & Ganja-la to Helambu trekking.
Day 02: Sightseeing tour and trek preparation.
Morning our city guide will take you for sightseeing tour at places of interest as Kathmandu valley full of world heritage sites, temples, monasteries, old king’s palaces after an interesting tour back to hotel, preparation for Langtang valley & Ganja-la to Helambu trekking.
Day 03: Drive to Syabrubesi 1,460 m – 07 hours.
Starting Langtang valley & Ganja-la to Helambu trekking with a scenic drive to Syabrubesi to begin our journey to Langtang valley, drive leads north passing many towns and farm villages of Kakani, Trisuli and Ramche, this nice long drive leads towards cooler area beyond hills on leaving the low warm areas of rice terraces, as the air gets cooler reaching higher altitude at Langtang National Park in Dhunche town located 1,965m high, a major town of Langtang and Rasuwa district. After a brief stop journey continues further downhill on the winding road to reach first overnight stop at Syabrubesi village.
Day 04: Trek to Lama Hotel 2,430m – 06 hours.
First day walk starts with few hours climb then walk gets gentle on gradual path through terraced farms and scattered villages. Trek continues reaching a river side where trail from Thulo Syabru meets near Bamboo place of few teahouses and lodges. After a short rest walk leads on the uphill trail into cool forest of rhododendron, oaks and pines tree lines and gorge following the Trisuli River fed from the glacier of Langtang peaks, walk follows the river upstream then on the gradual nice path to Lama Hotel for overnight stop.
Lama Hotel located in the middle of alpine forest with nice clearing for campsite and organic vegetable garden.
Day 05: Trek to Langtang village 3,430m – 06 hours.
After a nice morning, walk starts into a river gorge with dense forested area, mid day walk reaches a nice spot at Ghoretabla (horse stable), from onwards altitude gains slowly and the air gets cooler.
After lunch afternoon walk continues to our overnight stop at Langtang village with few hours trek to reach Langtang village, a nice moderate size village of Tamang and Bhotia’s tribe people, native of Langtang region for hundreds of years.
Day 06: Trek to Kyanjin Gompa 3,850m – 04 hours.
This morning a short half day walk to Kyanjin Gompa at Langtang valley, walk follows a short steep uphill where tree lines declines for short bushes of rhododendron, juniper and prickly Burberry bushes, walk slowly enters the wide glacial valley with incredible views of surrounding high snowcapped peaks with Dorji Lakpa, Langtang Lirung, Tsego ri, Langshsisa and Naya Kanga or Ganja la peak.
After a nice scenic walk reaching at Kyanjin Gompa for overnight stop and rest day, a wonderful spot with wide green meadows a pasture or grazing land for Yaks and other cattle’s.
Langtang valley offers view of Langtang Lirung glacier and ice fall just nearby, Kyanjin with an old small run down monastery placed on a rocky moraine ridge top, this place has a Yak Cheese Factory established some 30 years ago with Swiss technical support.
Day 07: At Kyanjin Gompa rest and hike.
A necessary rest day at Kyanjin for acclimatization before heading towards high Ganja-la pass, here with short hike to a hill top of Tsergo Ri at 5,033m.
The climb to Tsergo Ri is quite steep offers wonderful panorama of high mountains.
Afternoon rest and marvel the panorama of Chimsedang Lekh, and Kangjal Himal, a ridge of peaks bordering the valley to the south, Naya Kanga 5,844m. stunning views of the great mountains flanking the Langtang valley, including Ganchenpo 6,387m, Dorje Lakpa 6,990 m, Pemthang Karpo Ri 6,830m, Langtang Lirung 7,245m and across the northern boundary in Tibet rises the huge massive Shishapangma 8,046 m the last 14th world’s highest mountain.
Day 08: Trek to Ganja La Phedi 4,300m / 14,104 ft -05 hrs.
After a wonderful time at Kyanjin our real adventure starts following Langtang River and then uphill walk through rhododendron forests, climb leads to a steep path to reach a flat area of Ganja La phedi (bottom or a base) for first overnight camping of this trip.
Day 09: Cross Ganja La 5,122 m descend to Keldang 4,250 m – 06 hrs.
An early start to cross over Ganja La pass, sometimes could be challenging as this pass is covered by snow most of the season, after a hard climb with views of surrounding mountains then a long downhill on icy trail to reach a small glacial ponds at Keldang Kharka for overnight stop with camping.
Day 10: Trek to Dukpu 4,080 m – 05 hrs.
After a tough trek and climb of previous day, today a moderate walk following a ridge line, with few ups and downs reaching a small Sheppard’s settlement at Dukpu a summer grazing pasture of Helambu area for overnight camp.
Day 11: Trek to Tarke-Gyang 2,590 m – 05 hrs.
Morning walk leads to Tarke-Gyang village with downhill at first and then climb a small pass of 4,100 m /13,451 ft high, with views of Ganesh, Langtang and Jugal Himal range.
After a stop follow the path descending intok forest of pine, rhododendron trees to Tarke-Ghyang village for overnight stop with time for walks to the oldest Buddhist monasteries of this area.
Day 12: At Tarke-Gyang with rest day to explore local culture.
A free day in this nice Tarke-Gyang village full of impressive culture, this spare day as contingency day in case of bad weather on crossing Ganja-la and this allows adjusting the itinerary days. A rewarding rest in Helambu area on the least visited villages.
Day 13: Trek to Sermathang 2,610 m – 04 hours.
Enjoying with a visit at Tarkeghyang village with its friendly locals, walk leads through a flat area with unspoiled forests enjoying with the view of beautiful Helambu villages, walk continues passing chortens a prayer buddhist monuments, following the trail with superb views of rolling green hills reaching at Shermathang village for the overnight stop, a nice village of Yolmos ethnic tribes with time to visit the old monastery.
Day 14: Trek to Malemche Bazaar and drive to Kathmandu – 04 hrs drive
From Sermathang descend to warmer areas near Melamchipul and bazaar for interesting drive to Kathmandu passing through Dhulikhel town, drive continues on good road, on reaching Kathmandu after a fascinating trip around Langtang valley & Ganja-la to Helambu trekking, in Kathmandu afternoon free for individual activities and shopping.
Day 15: International departure for home ward bound.
After a memorable and great adventure around Langtang valley & Ganja-la to Helambu trekking with great services of White Hills Hill Adventure Treks & Expedition guides, as per the flight time our staff transfers you for the final departure homeward bound.
