A short overview of the Everest Base Camp trek

Firstly, the Everest Base Camp trek begins with your arrival in Kathmandu. Here, you explore the world heritage sites in the valley and prepare for the trek. Then, a short and scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla Airport.

The Everest Base Camp trek officially begins from Lukla, as you follow the banks of the Bhote Koshi River. After crossing Phakding, you go past the Monjo village and enter the Sagarmatha National Park Namche Bazar.

Further, you ascend to Namche Bazaar, which is the gateway to the Everest Base Camp. It is one of the most acclimatized spots for everyone who is doing trekking ,  climbing and expeditions.

On acclimatization day, you can hike to the Khumjung village, visit the Everest View Hotel, or explore the Khumjung Monastery.

After a rest day at Namche Bazar we will continue our journey to the Tengboche Monastery.

Further, you trek to Dingboche village  where we have another acclimatization day to make  our body FIT. On the rest day we will hike to the top of the NangkarTshang Peak (5693m). En route, you pass Thukla and visit the memorial for the people who lost their lives on the Everest Expedition.

The treks continues to Lobuche and then heads to Gorakshep. The Gorakshep village is one of the highest elevations where we go to sleep 5164m.

Finally, you head to the Everest Base Camp, where you have the views of the Khumbu Icefall and Everest range. This is your most happiest day during the trekking trails to the Everest Base camp. You can take a lot of photos, videos and memories in your mind for a lifetime. After you see the views of the world top TOWER Mt. Everest, you will forget every pain and every tension in your life.  You will feel like you are in Heaven. That is your day at Everest Base Camp. Explore your time at Everest Base Camp and back to overnight sleep at Gorak Shep 5164m.

Next day, you hike to the Kala Patthar viewpoint, which is a another great location to enjoy the surrounding views. This is also made for another day. You feel you will be in Heaven a second time. You will reach your most high Elevation place in your life 5550 meters. You are at the opposite of Mount Everest 8849M.

From Kalapatther, the views include Mt. Everest (8848 m), Pumo Ri (7165m), Ama Dablam (6856m), and Nuptse (7861m) among others.

Lastly, you begin the return trek and head back to Namche Bazaar. Next, the Everest base Camp trek across the Sagarmatha National Park brings back to you Lukla.

In conclusion, the Everest Base Camp trek is one of the best  trekking in Nepal , where the trails to explore the high Himalayas mountains including culture, flora, fauna, and different kinds of landscape views.

Detail Itinerary

Day 01: Airport picks up - Arrival day in Kathmandu and transfer to the boutique hotel.

Welcome to Nepal! The company represented will receive you  from Kathmandu airport and take you to a hotel in the Thamel. Thamel is the world famous places for tourist to explore a day and night.  

Day 02: Kathmandu tour and preparation for the Everest Base Camp trek.

On this day, you have small day tour around the Kathmandu Valley and visit the  UNESCO world heritage sites. Beginning from the Swayambhunath stupa is called Monkey temple, the tour reaches the glorious streets of Kathmandu Durbar Square. After that, visiting  Pashupatinath Temple and  Boudhanath Stupa at the end. 

After complete the sightseeing in Kathmandu we have evening short meeting about the trip to Everest Base camp trek.

Day 03: Flight to Lukla, trek to Phakding 3/4 hrs.

At the beginning of the day, Early morning at 5 :00 am our Guide will pick you up from the hotel to Airport and you will board a flight to Lukla. The flight concludes at the Tenzing Hillary Airport, heading out of Lukla. This is a memorable flight for you with small aircraft. After reaching the Lukla you have breakfast and some acclimatize your body. Then the trek follows the Dudh Koshi River and descends to Phakding. You will end the day in the company of Sherpas in the Phakding village.

Day 04: Trek to Namche 5/6 hrs.

Leaving Phakding, you head to the Monjo village, which is the entrance into the Sagarmatha National Park. The national park is one of the UNESCO world heritage sites in Nepal and is home to a wide range of wildlife and natural vegetation. You will continue north in the company of the Kongde ranges and settle at Namche, which is also known as the gateway to the Everest region.

Day 05: Rest day in Namche (day hike to Khumjung village, Everest viewpoint hotel, Khumjung monastery, and yeti skull) 2/3 hrs

This day is separated for trekkers to explore and adapt to the Himalayan atmosphere. You can choose to head to the Khumjung village, which is a popular destination among travelers. The main attraction of the village is the Khumjung Monastery, which houses a skull of a yeti. Alternatively, you can also hike to the Everest View Hotel and enjoy the panorama of the mountain ranges, including Mt. Everest (8848m).

Day 06: Trek to Tengboche. 4/5 hrs

As the trek heads out of Namche, it ascends north towards Sanasa village. From here, the trail follows the Imja River and heads east. The trail passes Phortse on the way to Tengboche. Tengboche is a Sherpa village that houses the revered Dawa Choeling Monastery. You can visit the monastery and enjoy the view of Mt. Ama Dablam (6856m) in the background.

Day 07: Trek to Dingboche. 4/5 hrs

Leaving Tengboche village, the trek continues eastward and begins to ascend steeply. The trail crosses Pangboche, where you can visit the local Pangboche Monastery as well. From here, you trek across the ascending path with pasture lands and meadows. Finally, the trek settles for the day once you reach Dingboche.

Day 08: Rest day Dingboche (day trip to Nangkar Tshang peak-5,693m) 2/3 hrs

Today, you will indulge in another acclimatization day in Dingboche. Here, you can rest and explore the village for the day. However, a hike to the top of Nangkar Tshang Peak (5616m) is a recommended trip for the day. The peak lies to the north of Dingboche, and the top offers a mesmerizing panorama of the Everest ranges. Rest, on this day, also helps you to adapt to the weather and Himalayan atmosphere.

Day 09: Trek to Lobuche. 4 hrs

The trek leaves the meadows around Dingboche and heads north towards Thukla village. Here, you can also visit the memorial that pays homage to the mountaineers who lost their lives while scaling Mt. Everest. The trek heads further north as you join the company of Khumbu Glacier and reach Lobuche. You will end the day in the village and admire the views of the surrounding Himalayas while preparing for the trek the next day.

Day 10: Trek to Gorakshep (Same day hike to EBC back to hotel) 5/6 hrs

Today is the main day on the trek since you trek to the Everest Base Camp. Leaving Lobuche, the trail hugs the Khumbu Glacier and reaches the Gorakshep Lake. Further ahead, you arrive at Gorakshep village, where you stop momentarily to catch your breath. Then, you trek across arid trails to reach the Everest Base Camp. The base camp offers a surreal view of the Khumbu Glacier and Icefall along with mountains like Nuptse (7861m) and Pumo Ri (7165m). After exploring the base camp, you return to Gorakshep.

Day 11: Trek to Kalapatthar for a sunrise view of mt. Everest and trek down to Pheriche. 5/6 hrs

Today, you will begin early in the morning and hike to the Kalapatthar viewpoint. It is famous as one of the best vantage points to relish the views of the Everest range, including Mt. Everest (8848m) itself. Likewise, the Himalayan vista consists of mountains like Nuptse (7861m), Pumo Ri (7165m), Ama Dablam (6856m), Cho Oyu (8201m), and Lhotse (8516m) among others. After enjoying the magical panorama, you begin the trek and descend to Pheriche.

Day 12: Trek to Namche. 5/6 hrs

This day sees you descend to Namche Bazaar. Heading out of Pheriche, you head south and continue to follow the Imja River. Trekking past Pangboche and Tengboche, you walk in the company of the Mt. Ama Dablam (6856m) and head to Sanasa village. Next, the trail descends back to the cozy embrace of Namche Bazaar.

Day 13: Trek to Lukla. 5/6 hrs

On this day, you retrace your steps back to Lukla. Leaving Namche, the trail heads south as you reach Jorsalle village. Further, you exit the Sagarmatha National Park and Monjo village. En route to Lukla, you will go past many Sherpa villages like Chheplung.

Day 14: Flight to Kathmandu.

As you end your adventure in the Everest region, you will fly back to Kathmandu. The flight will be early in the morning as you exit Lukla and enjoy the views of the Everest Himalayas for a final time. Once in Kathmandu, you will head back to your hotel and rest after a challenging trek to the base camp of Mt. Everest.

Day 15: Shopping and rest day in Kathmandu

Today is a free day in the Kathmandu valley, and you can enjoy the day exploring the valley. Alternatively, you can also choose to shop for gifts and souvenirs as you explore around Kathmandu. You also head to the wellness centers and relieve the aches of the trek.

Day 16: Departure to destination.

Your travel affair in Nepal comes to an end on this day. Our company staff will accompany you on the drive to Tribhuvan International Airport as your flight schedule. You can contact us for any future ventures in Nepal.

Electricity/Wi-Fi

Camera Battery and Mobile charging on route trek and overnights in lodge facilities available at extra cost as it differs each lodge, where you need to carry charging tools like a portable charger with small solar panels and batteries. All lodges at Everest base camp, electricity for the camera and mobile battery recharge are available at an extra cost. Most of the lodges have hydroelectricity and some of them have personal solar power. During the trek few places, there is Wi-Fi and phone calls are available.

Laundry

Laundry in Everest Trek might be a problem due to short sunlight hours. However, one can do their laundry on rest days along the route of treks at possible stops Namche or at Dingboche, where drying will be a problem unless dried by cool breeze and winds. Only at Namche offers laundry services which you need to do day earlier of rest days, laundry by oneself using large bowl and bucket with tap water wither hot or cold from the residing lodge and hotels.

Toilets and Hot Shower

Within the Everest region, most of the local lodge-Guest House might not accommodate rooms with attached bathrooms and toilets on treks. We will make try to adjust our clients at much comfort within our or lodge control as per the facilities provided in each and every lodge. The higher area where most of the place can provide only common Toilets and Bathrooms due to climatic conditions and rough landscapes of the mountain zone.

Most of the lodge around popular trekking areas do provides Hot Shower or warm bath water either by pipeline shower or using hot water buckets for bathing and washing heated by solar or with local hydropower where clients need to pay extra for using the hot bath or shower in the lodge on route treks.

Free Luggage Store in Kathmandu

After separating your main baggage for treks while you can leave some unnecessary belongings back in the hotel to store or with White Hill Adventure luggage room, where value has to be kept either in a safe deposit box at the hotel or with the company for safekeeping till you return from the trek.
