Mt. Manaslu stands as world 8th highest peak at 8,164 m high, located in the North Mid West of Nepal Himalaya first opened for western travelers and adventures in 1991, but the climb to this world 8th highest had been opened since 1950’s till today.
The area was pioneered and explored by H.W. Tilman in early 1950.
Mt. Manaslu also called as Kutang in native and Tibetan language, the word Manaslu derived from Sanskrit “Manas” meaning ‘spirit of the mountain or the soul’ (like Lake Manasarover around Mt. Kailash in Tibet).
Manaslu Region trekking is slowly getting popular among trekkers since last decades, Manaslu region covers Tsum Valley near Ganesh Himal and the southern areas of Rupina-la pass trekking.
This scenic and exciting walk leads to famous and popular Annapurna circuit route at Manang in Dharapnai village where this fabulous adventure around Manaslu trek ends after crossing a high Larkye-la Pass. Adventure around Manaslu region starts from warmer areas of Gorkha district, and then following the raging Burigandkai River upstream, as the walk leads past lovely farm villages of Soti-Khola-Philm-Jagat-Dyang-Lo Gaon to Sama-Gaon on upper Manaslu valley, walking along with spectacular views of Mid West Himalaya covering all Manaslu mountain range with Ganesh Himal towards east.
Sama-Gaon is the main and large village of Upper Manaslu region on route Larkya-la, Manaslu base camp and as well to Tibet border further north.
